Which books would you love to see as movies (even if you know it will never happen)?
I'm still waiting (and waiting) for the Neverwhere movie to come out. At least I know that is in the works. I would love to see George R. R. Martin's series, A Song of Ice and Fire made into movies, but they are too long and complicated for that to ever happen. Hopefully HBO will make a series about it or something. That would be great.

Anything by Terry Pratchett. I know they did a cartoon of "Soul Music" a while ago, but I wanna see more. "Reaper Man" would be cool.

See this is where I get completely torn. I could name off lots of books I would LOVE to see as movies. However I would also equally and oppositely HATE to see them as movies because there is always a high probability of suckanus in movie-making these days. Especially when they're taking someone else's ideas and molding it to their perverted perspective.
And so, I would "love" and "hate" to see Altered Carbon, by Richard Morgan, in movie-form. It's short enough and wicked enough to translate into a feature length film. I'd say Pandora's Star by Peter F. Hamilton, but that would need 3+ hours minimum to get the full effect across. This summer, *bass increases* One man's fight against an empire... (Azisien screaming at the TV: What the fuck, there's no empire in Altered Carbon!) ...is about to get personal! (Azisien: That doesn't even make sense) Nicholas Cage as...Takeshi Kovacs! (Sounds of an Azisien-shaped person committing seppuku...) |

The Man Who Never Missed would make such an awsome movie, i'm kind of suprized it hasn't already been optioned. it may not be a liteary masterpiece, but fuck if it ain't asking to be holywoodized.
Ringworld would be an incredibly long boring movie, and i'd love every minute of it. I had heard that Sci-Fi channel was working on a Red Mars miniseries, but i don't think anything came of it. the book (and the series) is too long and complicated to make it as anything other than a tv seires though.

I would love to see a Wheel of Time movie, but it wouild have to be impossibly long and have around twelve parts for it to capture the books, so I doubt it will happen. Also, Jonathan Strouds books would make excelent movies especialy the Bartimaeus Trilogy.

Good Omens, although apparently its been in Hollywood limbo for who knows how long.
Also, I would orgasm if I ever saw a trailer of Gun, With Occasional Music.

I really want to see The Dig be put on the big screen. The game by LucasArts was amazing, but the book was even better. And current A-level actors could easily fill the three main roles.
