Pokemon Daimond and Pearl
Well, with Pokemon Daimond and Pearl coming out in 2 and a half Months (April 22nd for us in America), I have recently picked up again on playing Pokemon.
This was a good and bad thing. For those who don't know, basically the new Pokemon game is not the much needed Pokemon MMORPG most people think Nintendo should make. However, it is pretty much the next best thing. Those who have stuck by the series (the millions who have on the main part of the series on the GBA) will now be able to transfer their pokemon from their GBA games onto the DS game and use them on the DS game. But it doesn't stop there. The DS game utilizes WiFi extensively for Online trading but also online battling across not only small distances but across countries. Essentially, while we may not be able to turn Pokemon into an MMO and turn people into Berry Masters or Gym Masters, we can at least face each other off while still being on opposite sides of the country. And possibly even on other sides of the ocean depending on how the setup is once it is fully established. Also Day and Night time returns, along with new regions to explore. So, hopefully in the event that Nintendo does someday make its fans happy and make a Pokemon MMO, there's at least 4 Major world regions in the 'World' that Pokemon inhabit. Kanto....and the three others I can't remember at the moment. Not to mention a boatload of islands. Currently I'm doing all the fun stuff of breeding and leveling pokemon anticipating wifi play. This game is gonna sell millions of copies I'm sure so I'm going to have millions of potential combatants. And for once I actually have time and the knowledge to prepare for a games competative scene. I'm stoaked.

I'll probably get it. Pokemon taps into my love of collecting. The battle system is fun even if all the grinding can get horrible. Mainly I'm just relieved that I can trade with other people now and actually complete a pokedex, last one I actually finished was the first one, Red. No other people I know still play it.

Diamond!
Anyway, me and my brother will probably import these (we live in Europe). I'll get the opposite one to him, but if he's not getting one then I'll get Pearl. Looking forward to being beaten by NPFites. We should have an FC exchange thread for this. |

I've been looking at some of the new Pokémon and moves and such, and it all seems quite interesting. I'm eager to see the new games, but it'll be difficult as I don't have a DS. However, my friends and I are quite happy beating on one another in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen/Colosseum, so it's cool.

I was actually interested in Diamond and Pearl when I saw them set for release, whereas my enthusiasm died when Ruby/Sapphire/LeafGreen/etcetc came out. I did play some of Ruby and LeafGreen, and I`m wondering something about Diamond and Pearl.
In Ruby, some of the older Pokémon were gone. LeafGreen and FireRed brought them back in their own cartridges, but.. will Diamond and Pearl support both the Ruby/Sapphire and LeafGreen/FireRed sets, plus its own? Or pick and choose and go from there? (I feel a bit like a tard asking this, so excuse me if they`re stupid questions.) WiFi compatibility is a nice step in a good direction; the limitations presented by the game-link cables limited you to your area friends and the local TCG/game league, if you were around back then. I already have money set aside for it, and am gonna get emerald (I already own leafgreen) so that I can have the maximum range of pokemon choice.
I plan on getting diamond, and I seriously look forward to the whole play online aspect of the game. I forsee whole internet communities sparking over this, and I am pleased. I hope to see you all online so that we may do battle!

Online battles would be interesting what with the 400+ pokemon it would include.
