Power Over Wireless
Hi Im new here,
Im just wondering if anyone as heard of 'Power Over Wireless' the transfer of electricity to things such as cell phones without a cable. It works similar to the electric toothbrush!!! Anyone heard of it? |

Electric Toothbrushes are battery powered. So, if that's what you mean, then yeah, a lot of things use this technology!

Actually, despite that little flub, the idea has been around. I believe that Tesla himself once theorized that wireless energy transfer was a possibility.

Tesla certaintly did bu in recent years a number of Universities have researched this subject including MIT and Tokyo University. If supported and developed this technology could be used across all sorts of applications.

Yeah Tesla coils, they just have issues like the fact that they cause massive electrical storms and are inefficient as all hell. Conduits to transfer energy are good things, they don't kill you as much.

Actually, I have heard of this power over wireless thingy, and it's not batteries, you meanies.
WIKI'D! Check near the bottom of the wiki for the part on the toothbrush thing. I first heard about this whilst looking for a gift for my sister, and one of the things I heard about was a "wireless power cord" for a cell phone, which used radio waves to power a cell phone.

Yeah the wiki is disputed and has no verification. Look up Lord Tesla and the history of the insanity factually involved with 'wireless energy transfer'. Honestly the energy has to be great enough to transfer over open space and has to be usable, radio waves can't power anything. Electromagnetic fields that can power stuff are dangerous as all hell.

I've heard of wireless power in terms of actual implementation, but it was still in the theoretical phase two years ago when I read about it (briefly).
It'd be nice. Batteries are a curse in their own right. I'd just rather not have my face melt off or something. If that's the case, I guess I'll stick with the usual issue of changing batteries, finding those were already dead, swearing, looking for more, etc. |

Its interesting to see peoples interest in this technology. It will also to see peoples reactions when the first products hit the market. I think Power Over Wireless could be utilised accross all sorts of applications if its supported and developed.
