Democratic Debates
If anyone else watched Larry King last night; they had the first semblance of a debate between the four candidates in anticipation of Super Tuesday. I only caught it halfway through, so I missed all the biggest questions.
Basically, here's what I saw: Kerry -He pretty much showed that he was a carbon-copy democrat. All of his policies, all of his answers, were made with the sheer purpose of contradicting Bush. -He actually is a better speaker than Edwards and Sharpton. -Kinda condescending. When asked if he would consider the other candidates for VP or cabinet, he found a polite way of declining. He also has a distinct tendancy to act like he's already the general election nominee. -Annoying, kept saying "George W. Bush" in every other sentance. -The only thing that's really 'new' about his policy is the 100-day plan for getting rid of the civil rights problems we've been having, which is basically copying Dean. Edwards -When he's on his own, he can talk well, but in a room with other democrats, he acts like Al Gore. This debate was a big loss for him, because he prodded the other candidates too much, while clumsily answering all his own questions. -Annoying, kept saying "what I did in a small town I was born in" in every other sentance. His accent makes him look too much like Clinton. -The only place he did well was education, at the end. Kerry had hardly a few words on it. Sharpton -Basically... he was... Sharpton. The most likeable candidate by far, but to the point where you can't really take him seriously. Education was the only part he had much to contribute on, and he added some stuff to Edwards' and Kerry's. Kucinich -He actually looks like the most competent candidate there, and the most well-spoken. When Larry asked if anyone had any plans for allowing foreign presidents, the other three blew the question off (in other words, they're not for it, but can't defend why), while Kucinich actually gave a great answer supporting it. But that was his only big moment. Anyway, just figured your thoughts on it might be worth a thread. I didn't see the whole thing, so if anyone knows what they talked about before renegotiating NAFTA... |

Kucinich is the only democrat still in the running that I like. Kerry and Edwards have the same view on just about everything. Their hypocrisy of criticizing Bush over legislation he signed that they voted for doesn't sit well with me. Sharpton got some nice one liners off but I still wouldn't vote for him.

VD: Heh, funny abbreviated version of it. While it wasn't that mundane, there was a bit of a bitch-fight between Kerry and Edwards. In fact, two lesbians covered with fire ants and hitting each other with blocks of wood, would be less of a bitch-fight than it. That's the main reason Sharpton and Kucinich looked good this time; they minded their own business and answered promptly when asked.
The Terminator joke was well-played actually. |

Sharpton did answer intelligently, I just don't like him because he finds a way to incorporate race into every argument. If I had to vote for a black candidate, I'd choose Alan Keyes. Although he can get annoying too sometimes.
