Sarda had the Light Warriors collect the 4 orbs so Sarda can use them to give himself (Onion Kid) the god-like powers. It's a paradox, but yes, Sarda became powerful because his future self ordered the Light Warriors to collect the 4 orbs of power to be used to empower his younger self.

The Light Warriors will fulfill the prophecy of destroying Chaos.

Sarda is Chaos.

Sarda created the prophecy so the Light Warriors could come into being. Unwittingly, White Mage kept the Light Warriors afloat, and by virtue of destiny, they will somehow destroy Chaos. Think about it, what other characters have demonstrated the god-like power a being like Chaos you would associate to have? What other characters have the power, the will, and the imperative to exercise that power, and to what destructive ends?

Sarda is the source of the prophecy to create the Light Warriors to destroy Chaos. And Sarda hemself says, the Light Warriors are the worst things that ever happened to the planet. In particular, I remember the message of fire they carved into Dwarfland, "You are next." BECAUSE Sarda was the mastermind of it all, definitely, Sarda is Chaos. No one else fits the bill as perfectly as him. I wouldn't be surprised if Darko was revealed to be Sarda himself or one of his assistants.

THE WAY they will beat Sarda, Thief has already stolen the Orbs. No doubt, Sarda won't kill the Light Warriors, he would have empowered Onion Kid and then have had him kill the Light Warriors. But without the Orbs, no power. Black Mage will then Hadoken Sarda, Red Mage will mimic that, and Fighter will Sword-Chuck them to victory.
