10-yr old kid refuses to say Pledge
Don't remember seeing a thread about this, but last month a 10-year old in West Fork, Arkansas decided that he wasn't going to say the pledge of allegiance because he feels that liberty and justice is not being provided for all.

And then we get this from the Daily Show. Also, found out Mick Foley is all sorts of awesome. Thoughts? Edit: Dammit, submitted before I finished off the thread's title. Should be "10-yr old kid refuses to say Pledge"

Hey, total props to this kid. I know what it's like to take crap in school over supporting gays, and yeah, kids can be assholes. He's got the brains and the guts to stick to his guns, though, so I'm totally rooting for him.

Weren't the ACLU already all over this 'you have to say the pledge' shit like decades ago?
I could have sworn they were.

Nice to see a kid with some synapses to rub together. Sending an encouragement e-mail if I can find an address.

Also this kid's parents are good people, it's awesome that they would actually have their kid's back on something like this.
EDIT: I was a little worried when I first heard about this that maybe his parents were manipulating him into doing it but then I figured any kid who tells his teacher to jump off a bridge probably isn't taking too much shit from Mom and Dad, either.

I like the way the kid's dad totally fails at his attempt to repress laughter when his kid starts talking like a lawyer, too.

I am ashamed to admit this failing
Here's the CNN interview
Unfortunately, this is true. I knew about his wrestling days and that he voiced The Boulder on Avatar, but I did not realize how much work he does for charities, that he supports Obama, and that he appears on Rachel Maddow's show.
