USB 2.0
Ok I got my new motherboard, and made sure it had USB 2.0
However whenever I hook up my external harddrive it says "would run faster if connected to USB 2.0", though I am aware it might just be a standard message, it certainly seems to be loading things slow. Is there something special I have to do?

Not all that sure about this, but if you have a tower desktop with USB ports at the front, they will generally be non-2.0. USB 2.0's generally at the back, I think.

Check for red ports. Red ports are always faster.

Let's check bases.
Is it possible that your ports are using USB 1.1 drivers instead for some reason? Or that your external drive isn't a 2.0 device?

It's probably the CORD for the external drive that's not 2.0, though my first guess was that you failed to update your motherboard drivers for the new 2.0 as well. For 2.0 to work, the usb cable and the port have to be USB 2.0.
