What was the most embarassing thing your parents said about anime?
Whenever our parents/guardians see us watching anime/reading manga, what did they say, or what do you think they will say?
Mine went like this... Dad: "Did you just call me a baka?" Me: Yeah...... Dad: "Is that a good thing?" Me: ....sure lol, the next day when he went to work he asked his Japanese co-workers what it meant.

What does Baka mean?
Anyway, they just scoff at my cartoons and make fun of it and raise their eyebrows at me. I tend to just watch it alone. Edit: And oh oh oh, have you ever played the game Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

I don't think there have been any. Both have asked me questions to learn more about it, and my mother has even begun to enjoy watching it herself ever since I showed her a series here and there when I was home.

NOT on Probation!

Okay static, are you going to bring that game up in EVERY SINGLE THREAD that you go into? It is completely unrelated to the topic at hand, and is referred to as spam. If you want to talk about it, make a thread about it and don't pollute tons of other threads with it. [/pissed off rant]
[on topic] My most embarrassingmoment was probally when I was watching Inuyasha and my mom kept asking me all these stupid and really annoying questions. Then she began mocking it before going off to bed. Wanted to smack her.

Sorry, your right.
A bit over-zealous I guess.

I make fun of my friends who are over zelous anime people. I just start asking them if they have a bento box (it can't be pinku).
Anime people may be the easiest people to tweak on the planet. Last edited by Mr. Wind-Up Bird; 05-23-2004 at 07:33 PM. |

To avoid questions from my parents I lock the door and change the channel when someone knocks. But before I adopted this strategy my mom caught me watching Digimon (I was like ten) and they had just anounced a monster called Kiwimon. My mom just looked at the tv and said "They just can't think of anything these days" and walked off in disgust. Oh, and my sisters call anime "panime"

....oh no.
Memories, flooding back. My aunt one Christmas gave me a Digimon Calendar because they found out that I watched and enjoyed it. When my mother came to visit me (yes I was living on my own at the time!) she saw that I hadn't hung it up. She forced me too. Then I just left it up and used it. Eventually I didn't care. Then one birthday, my friends wrapped a gift they had given me (and they waited till I was in a restaurent to do this) in happy yellow paper covered in Pokemon stickers. Pokemon I can't stand but to them, whats the difference. And Happy Yellow? Most horrible color there is, its part of a story. I have two pictures put together, under one is the caption "There are my friends..." under the other is "...and these are my enemies". And its the same picture.
