Shield of Lies Discussion Thread: For those who just can't leave things alone.

Here is the Discussion thread. I have taken the liberty to place the last post from the Sign Up in here.

HoP and Bombshell, post your edits to characters (or completely new characters) here.


Arhra, your character looks great, I assume your quarterstaff is Wooden, and you have no armour. Also, you may have to deal with a bit more fear from the rest of the general population than the others will. The Spirit of Water was quite evil in the last RP, and the people still remember this.

HoP: Your character is rejected until you provide more information in his bio, the metal of his weapons (which tells us the strength of them), and actual description in his clothing and appearance. If you cannot put the time in to make a decent character, you are obviously not going to put the effort into your posts within the RP.

Shape up or Ship out.

For the rest of you, I am going to make a new Discussion thread until DB starts up the RP.

Edit: We will deal with anyone who God-Modes. Stop the "I'm telling!" "Not if I tell first!" arguments you two. You are being childish.

Wouldn't it make more sense story-wise if our characters (new ones, below the century mark) were left out of the blue to what happened in the past. Unless the Elemental War was heavily documented, like someone followed the heros around and recorded everything, people in this RP would only know what they've been told by their fathers, who would only remember it hazily, or would have heard it from THEIR fathers, who also might be hazy.

At least thats my excuse for not reading the last one. And the fact that nobodies ever heard of a well read goblin.

Atvantages: underestamated, expeiriance quick with weapons

disantantages: slow moving, will get hurt midbattle from age, more likely to lose as battle gets longer, not great with ice, no respect

even if I miss some things at first, it will all unravle over time. I am going to hold back now to keep some cards in my hand, but if I still need something crutial then pm the exact thing that you want changed

the rapier is
Obsidian- A powerful black metal which balances impressive cutting power, with a light weight and good durability. Has Great Offense, and Great Defense. Resistance to Lightning, Wind, and Earth, Weak against Fire and Ice. Not Magnetic.

and the broad sword is
Titanium- A heavy and durable substance, Titanium is best used in Metal Plate armour, though it is quite cumbersome when used in a weapon form. Great Defense, moderate Offense. Weak against Lightning, and Earth, resistance to Fire, Ice, wind and Water.
Susceptable to Magnetism.

HoP- Just a general rule about RPs. GM's don't like people having hidden talents or secrets popping out a lot.


Anyways: You know, our group is so mixed up. And I just have a general question(s) about all the characters: What exactly are we fighting off the bat?

And what's with all these master-fighter backgrounds? On a general note, you can accomplish the exact same thing by fighting dirty and not being fancy (I.E. Just stabbing the dude) as you can by neatly defeating him.

I'm not criticizing what everyone has written, but I'm just saying, it's point A to point B. Pretty straight-forward.



EDIT- And obsidian isn't a metal. It's a rock.

And I'm not sure if titanium was in the sign-up. Either way, you have to remember that DB himself has said we'll get better equipment as the RP progresses.

my guy was a good fighter but now is a arrongent old geezer

On a general note, you can accomplish the exact same thing by fighting dirty and not being fancy (I.E. Just stabbing the dude) as you can by neatly defeating him.

gm's don't like just stabing the dude, they like it long and beautiful.

1. Sorry. My mistake.

2. I wasn't referring to you in particular. But the large majority of the characters seem to have been formally taught and stuff, largely giving the impression that they're the shiz. Or, I could just be taking implications wrong and short on sleep. That's possible too.

3. Think about it like this. You could do a grand flourish and use three lightning quick cuts to attempt to disarm the man then neatly cut his head off. Or (Like I would) you could block an attack, grab the wrist holding the sword, kick him in the nuts, then stab him when he falls back. Which is easier? They're both obviously effective. But the second is just so much more sensible.

because for once the magic is weak enough that being a fighter can do true damage

or dodge his attack, stab your rapier into his foot, then as he is stun by the pain in his foot you kick him to the ground, and take the broad sword and stab through his neck

2. You don't need to have been schooled to be this great and grand fighter. Sensibility above all else would be better.

3. Ever tried kicking someone to the ground? Not easy. Dodging attacks isn't as easy as video games say it is (Believe me on this. Try boxing, Tae-Kwon-do or fencing, and see how easily you dodge on the spur of the moment) And if you're an old guy, you'd break your hip doing that.
