Finally!
After two years of rigorous labor in our off time in high school, my friend and I have completed our life's masterpiece. We worked covertly on this project during CAD class utilizing the awesome powers of AutoCAD, VIZ, and 3D Studio MAX. We made them specifically for 8-Bit theater and it's readers, so I hope you enjoy them. I give you...sword-chucks!
The first one is the original finished product. We added a sunburst in the second one just 'cause we could. http://www.fuitad.com/bobthemercenary/Sword_Chucks.jpg http://www.fuitad.com/bobthemercenary/Sword_Chucks2.jpg In the future, we hope to add a sunset background, birds flying through the air, and a broken masamune lying at the sword-chucks' base.

Very nice indeed! You did a very good job on the modelling, and the placement of the chain is very good. My only niggle (and it is very minor) is that the chain seems a little short for the job. Of course, I may be wrong in this.

Another thing we focused on was the chain material. If you can expand the image, you'll see how the chain's all rusted up (kinda reminds me of the Titanic).

Back to the chain, though. It was a royal pain-in-the-ass the entire way. The model itself wasn't too hard to create. The real problems started when we went to copy the links and interlock them to form the chain. They wouldn't position right, so we had to measure the lengths between the links and move each one into it's correct position. Then we had to set break points so the chain would move and sway naturally. Oh my god. It took us about three weeks to get that right. The thing kept folding in on itself, flipping over, and even breaking apart completely. We finally got it to a point where we could actually work with it and make it droop how it does in the picture. God, I'm happy that's over.

I do say, most excellent. A guy with some decent Photoshop skills could make a mighty fine wallpaper out of that. Hint hint.

Nice, thanks. But, I found that if you just right click the picture and set it as your desktop, it comes out nice.
