Lets just operate under the assumption that I am just some unintelligent entitled asshole who gladly walks insensitively over the rights of everybody else who is beneath me. Pissing all over your heads ignorant of all the harm Im causing because Im so happy and white and straight and in the majority that I'm ignorant to the insecurities and fears of the minority.
Given that we've established this, literally the only reason I have to be even slightly sensitive to your cause is to promote general equality and out of my own good will help to demolish societal barriers that are keeping other people down. So when I show interest in the case and ask you for a little more evidence to support it and further convince me, how about you just continue with your case instead of going off about how insensitive/entitled/jackassish I am? EDIT: Sorry but I deleted that post Sif. It was admittedly a bit sarcastic and I didn't feel like dealing with the inevetable bitchfest that would come from that kind of admittedly immature behavior. Its okay though, I'm sure they'll find at least three ways to nitpick this post, like maybe saying that "bitchfest" is misogynistic and offensive to dogs. EDIT AGAIN: Frankly I think its moronic and asanine the way that you expect everybody to be 100% on-board from the generally lackluster and weak argument you've made. (Admittedly the argument has grown stronger and more substantial over the course of the thread as you've provided information upon request, but the original few posts were 90% sensationalist rant from you and almost no source material). The majority of people you've jumped on seem like they're halfway convinced, but would rather make sure there's just cause before they jump on another bandwagon, which is the correct response to a seeing bandwagon. Hell, in my first post I wasn't even disagreeing, I was just asking for clarification on a few things that would help to further convince me and probably some other people (and even assisted by providing an extra tidbit to help make your case). Don't taze me bro. Last edited by Pip Boy; 07-02-2012 at 04:39 PM. |

I mean it's pretty clear you're missing the entire point as to what privilege actually entails. As to your last sentence it just comes across as ridiculous immaturity because nothing in that sentence has any relevance. I mean it's pretty clear you actually think that minority people don't have a legit point because Quote:

So not posing scantily clad puts them at a disadvantage in their industry, which is why they might decide to do it even if they didn't really want to. Furthermore, the fact that scantily clad women are considered something of a norm in, say advertising (which is the easy example I guess), is indication of a deep rooted male dominated thinking in the industry and society at large.

Seriously, WTF, Sifright?
My post is comparing the pic to this series where the heroine sure as hell wears something similar to what the hell Liz is arguing about. And you take that time to get so super sensitive as to not understand that I find it an incredibly weak argument? I even pointed to a better argument that I can support and get behind and all you do is seem to take the first few words and say "nah, you're a misogynistic pig for not supporting this issue." I don't want a single point issue. I like a nuanced argument that will actually solve the issue at hand. As rpg mentioned, that argument isn't being made with a few screenshots. I would want video that I look at and make the argument. I would want gameplay that can be pointed at and say "okay, that's over the line." That argument has not been made to me, it has been told. It's seriously ridiculous that you take what I'm saying and twist it just for emotional points. |

You can read all about it in my new book: "Tazin me, and 100 ways you can be not doin it." I'd say it has more to do with the fact that the literal chemical and hormonal differences that exist between the brains of male and females makes males more susceptible to this kind of advertising. I recall reading a study on this (and I admit I don't have any evidenced to support this except my own vague recollection, so here's a grain of salt to go with that) that revealed women just don't think with their dicks as much as men do. Yeah because that disparity certainly couldn't possibly be the product of, say, a culture of sexual objectification of women.

I think that its just as likely to be the result of our biological evolution as a species and the gender roles we fell into back in primitive times when we were too busy hunting mammoths and discovering fire to care about being politically correct. Men evolved to hunt for food and provide for women, women evolved to be appealing to men (who would thus fight over them) ensuring that the paragons of men and women within those roles are the ones that passed on their genetic material.
Im not saying we should use evolution as an excuse for misogyny, but pretending we didn't evolve like that makes you just as ignorant as the people you accuse of pretending we're obligated remain in those roles. Last edited by Pip Boy; 07-02-2012 at 05:12 PM. |

I like naked women a looooooooooooooooot, but no amount of BowFlex could sculpt a body like that Princess. She kinda just comes off as drawn weird, not hot. The art team needs to take an Anatomy Class or whatever it is artists should be taking as part of their artist curriculum.
We should probably change the thread title to Boycott Atlus and Aksys (or maybe Boycott RPG Companies Starting with the Letter 'A') I personally find stuff like the picture above hilarious. The imagery is absurd enough that it becomes comedy! Also boob mousepads, like the real thing, are surprisingly comfortable. (I did not purchase said boob mousepad, I just happen to know someone who did. By proxy I support this whole cause, but only because I've never bought an Atlus game ever) |

IF your serious about finding other things clearly worse and objectionable and your so concerned that this wouldn't be a valid target to objectively target a company that is poor on these issues do tell us about the companies that are worse and that you support boycotting. I'm genuinely curious as to which companies you are boycotting and think we should target. OR were you being insincere and once this topic is gone you just wont think about the issue again because it doesn't personally effect you at all?
