Yeah, last time around I was using a Deagle for the same reason, I wanted maximum power for demon hunting. Now I have a humvee full of ordanance instead though, so the sidearm is relegated to last resort anyway.

loosely based off of my original idea, sorry if it's overly long
Character Name: Abdul-Rahim, but his friends just call him Abdul. Gender: Male Age: 28 Organization: The Wardens, formerly The Gaudians Class: medium-level Sigil mage/gun slinger Special Abilities: He is a decent shot with his .44 magnum revolver, but his magical abilities revolve around the use of Sigils, which he is fairly good with. He specializes in support magics, consisting of sheilds, illusions, and escape spells. Combat wise he has poisin and some explosive spells.. Bio: Abdul was born in the city of Baghdad, he doesn't like to talk much about his history there, but it is known that when he was 16 he witnessed a group of magic-users fight off an unknown demon in the dessert, after said demon had attacked him and killed his little-brother. Abdul spent the next 4 years learning magic from these people, who worked for a group called "The Guardians" (I couldn't think of anything else), who shared views similiar to the Society. He took up several different forms of magic while studying there, mostly support types, such as shields, poisin, and escape spells, although this doesn't mean he has no combat uses, as he knows a few explosive spells. Although the group treated him well, Abdul was discontent becaue there just wasn't as many monsters or demons in the middle east, so Abdul movd to America at the age of 21, were they were appearing more frequently, to join the Wardens, hoping for a chance to become a Protector so he could take part in sealing off the gates of hell. Equipment/Belonging: Scoped .44 magnum: Abdul's only magic requires more drawn out sigils, so when he is in a pinch he can always rely on his .44 ruger BlackHawk with a custom scope. Darts: Abdul is fairly good at attaching sigils to his weapons, he particularly likes to do this with darts, becaue they are more simple than bullets. He can use these darts with his combat abilities of poisin and explosions to attack from a distance. Bullet proof vest: under his duster-style coat Abdul has a bullet-proof vest to protect from whatever he may be faced with, although a demons claws tend to cut through it or weaken it. Jeep: After a while in America he decided it would be a lot more convinient to get a form of transportation, so he saved his earnings and bought a jeep to get from place-to-place quicker and carry his equipment. Gorefiend: Yeah, that works. Sorry if that was a little harsh, but that whole Hellsing thing was, pretty much literally, the first thing I saw when I logged on this morning, and there was much face-palming going with it.
Approved. Hawk: Good heavens, man, you want to invade Africa while your at it? I'll let it slide, as long as you promise to share with others, and promise to stay relatively realistic about what you can carry at once. The moment you, for lack of a better term, "pull a rocket launcher out of your pants" is the moment when bad things start to happen to your character. And, yes...I know the infinite ammo sigil is a joke, but take it off so the temptation isn't there. Bard: It's an interesting concept...but there parts with it that don't work. For one thing, I find it hard to believe that anyone would place a former (no matter how unwitting) cultist in the Protectors...who are going to have to take care of more than their fair share of cultists. I know it's a bit of a nit-pick, but it's a nit-pick that would come up in the course of the fiction. The same goes with using dark magic, which would break certain taboos among the Society and the like. Sorry, but I'm going to have to say no to those parts. ...Did I forget to mention I'm a bit of a character creation Nazi? Anyways, something I've notice. I'm not sure if this got mentioned in my posts (honestly, I recycled a lot of the last RP), but, if anyone wants to, there is the need of for at least a few people, either high school age or can pass for high school age, that can stay with Pamelia while she goes to school. Why is the Mother of Hell going to school? Well, partly in the attempt to make sure she has at least a somewhat normal life, and partly to with the concept of "hiding in plain sight"...frankly, demons don't want to become common knowledge just yet, and will be shy about attacking Pamelia in public. Just putting that out there. Also, you guys won't get instant responses tonight, as I have to go to work tomorrow morning. I'll be on until about 9 (mountain time), but not much longer after that.

Should/do we all have vehicles?
Also, I had figured demons were more or less well-known throughout the world. Are they? Lastly, I just want to be sure; are our guns going to be any use, really?

Task is coming back. Need to rediscover my original one, but he'll be a bit different, like being the Mother's age, and a bit more possessed.
And he'll be even more Mirror's Edge/PoP:SoT, so the Mother of Hell don't steal his schtick.

No idea if this will fly considering the 'magic and tech don't play well' thing, but I felt like trying, anyway. No worries if it doesn't.
Character Name: Isamu Hikaru Gender: Male Age: 19 Organization: 悪魔の死刑執行人 or Akuma no Burakumin--A relatively recent religious order that has sprung up from roots within the Yakuza after a sect ran into some 'more than human' underworld opponents. The surviving yakuza were said to have devoted their lives to the kami--having seen the price that could be paid for their disrespected--and developed a method of creating 'relic' pistols by 'awakening the kami within the steel and begging their assistance in the cleansing of this world'. The Shinto influences have mostly edged out the Yakuza influences, and the Burakumin believe that to take any human life for self-gain is the worst of acts and will lead to more hardships for all. Therefore the majority of the sect strongly oppose the killing of the Mother of Hell, regardless of the circumstances, though some are more pragmatic and see the sacrifice of the Mother of Hell as a cleansing ritual in and of itself--but one which must only be performed if she has been tainted by unnatural sources, i.e. it must never happen unless there is no hope of saving her. Class: Gunslinger/Martial Artist Special Abilities: Gun Kata, unarmed martial arts, sword play. Bio: Isamu Hikaru was born into the Akuma no Burakumin, and so it was not strange for him to have been trained to battle demons. The Burakumin work in much the same way as ancient ninja clans. Children are taught the arts of the clan from the moment they are old enough to stand, ensuring that the child retains the necessary strength and flexibility to be able to master the various martial arts forms that the school teaches. However, even amongst the almost preternatural skill of the Burakumin Hikaru stood out. He learned more quickly than the others, and while his contemporaries were still studying basic hand to hand kata he had mastered swordplay and moved onto the sacred gun katas. The only area in which his training suffered was in the use of their holy rituals. Though Hikaru truly believed all the teachings of the shrine, and his elders had no reason to suspect that he would ever turn his back to him, he lacked discipline in matters of spirituality--often rushing through his purifications, or missing them altogether. It was deemed that this was the reason he was never able to properly create or use holy wards. However--when the time came to choose a protector, he was selected after much debate. Some of the elder's spoke out against him as unpious, but even they could not argue that in sheer combat there was none more suited. Eventually they were convinced that piousness would not stop a hybrid from from stealing the Mother--but a bullet in its forehead very well may. His age was falsified and he was entered into classes with the mother of hell. Equipment: 2 'relic' guns. The guns created by the Burakumin are monstrous. Each one being roughly 41cm in length (roughly 16 inches) and capable of firing .50 caliber ammunition. The guns themselves are covered in sigils and and have a pair of gold chains that connect to a pair of steel bracers he wears on his arms which are also covered in sigils. The creation of these guns takes roughly one year per firearm. First all parts must be created individually with 'blessed' tools in a perfectly purified workshop. Once each part is created they must be purified and blessed by shinto priests for roughly three months as each sigil is painstakingly carved, at which point the guns are assembled, again in a perfectly purified environment. Once the guns are constructed the chain is permanently attached to the bottom of the gun and the bracer, while more incantations and purification ceremonies are performed. This allows the chain to transmit magical energies. The final step is the binding of the bracer to its intended user. The user must fast for a full week as the bracer is attached and sigils are drawn onto it, forever binding it to that particular user's ki energy. The process is painstaking, but once done it gives the gun three important properties. Firstly, the gun becomes nearly weightless, thanks to the guidance and help of the metal kami. It weighs no more than a standard nine millimeter pistol while in the hands of its user. Secondly, thanks to the work of the fire kami, the recoil is greatly reduced while muzzle speed is greatly increased--giving it a muzzle speed congruent with a rifle firing similar rounds. This is done via the fire kami redirecting the force of explosions to... severely bend Newton's laws--the 'equal and opposite reaction' is partially redirected into further propellant force instead of gun kick. The third effect is done by sigils lining the inside of the barrel and is affected by kami of the light. As each round leaves the barrel it is sheathed in an aura of purifying light, making each bullet even more potent against the dark, while simultaneously reducing its effectiveness against human beings--much like Jared's sword, though they are still capable of harming human beings by virtue of moving at supersonic speeds. Hikaru, due to his exceptional skill and his place as protector, was gifted with two such weapons. In addition, due to the size of these weapons and their near impossibility to hide, he also carries a pair of small P3ATs, pocket pistols capable of firing a .380 round. These pistols are perfectly mundane, but are usually hidden on his person in a pair of 'wrist holsters' while he is at school. However, while swordplay was in his training regime, he does not carry one, due to a sword's impracticality compared to pistols, and it being even harder to successfully conceal.

Character Name: Task Malben (also called "mostly useless, demonic punching bag, wangst, and not a ninja.")
Gender: XY!!!! Age: 17 Organization: Society Class: Thief! Special Abilities: Knows Prince of Persia esque Parkour running, silver/magical knives. RAGE: If the seals on his body weaken, or intentionally removed, Task is momentarily overwhelmed with inhuman rage, that increases his strength, speed, and bloodlust. Pray that he doesn't. Lust: Originally a hanger on, this secondary demon is the only reason the seals work in the first place, though as a result Task doesn't have nearly the same amount of protection against her effects on him. Under her influence, he is able to sneak within the shadows by being a literal shadow, and the laws of reality are bent with his hand stretching like a tentacle to grab an opponent, or climbing a vertical surface as if he were swimming up it. Fortunately, this demon is only interested in ONE thing. Is strongest at night, and on a full moon. Bio: As described by his ex-military trainer: "You're as demon possessed as hell. I mean, there are people who are pretty fucked out there, but you are beyond them. You are royally, majorly fucked. You have no chance in hell. An unnamed elder demon who knows only chaos, hatred, destruction, and pain beyond pain is connected to you by that knife cut you got like an umbilical cord. You are like a snowflake on the sun. You aren't gonna die, but you will suffer an eternity of such unpleasance that will make you wish you could kill yourself beforehand, but that would just speed up the process to get you to your torment. Now, stop showing that retarded look and give me 100 push ups, and then Shit tzu over there is going to make you do some more of that kungfu monkey stuff." Found by a middle-ground sect within the Society that is distrustful of the other sects, Task is tasked with being a hidden guardian of the mother of hell, and to report on the actions of others attempting to protect her. However, he can get no support, he's not supposed to ask the Mother or her other guardians for help in anyway, and when the school is proverbially taken over by mind-possessing gas-slug demons, he has to find his own way out. Extended (but may no longer be entirely canon) bio.
