So, no reading in the dark, got it.

Yeah, I'm cool with that. At least I won't have to wear those idiotic nightvision goggles, such fashion disasters. I might need to ask periodically what I can see, if we're in a situation where it matters. But for the most part, I'll just assume I can make out vague shapes and recognize people I know.

Character Name: Matthew Herald

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Organization: The Holy Legion of St. George. In its heyday, the Legion of St. George was a powerful and fully funded order of demon slayers. Its hunters were held in extremely high regard, even at the Vatican. They received orders straight from Rome and were dispatched across the planet to solve demon problems wherever they might arise.

That was a long time ago.

Nowadays, the Legion qualifies for the term "washed-up." Apparently they lost Rome's favor back in the late-1960's, due to some decision made by the Legion's then-current leader (they don't like to discuss it). The Vatican denounced and effectively disowned the Legion. Funding dried up, membership dwindled, and business slowed to a crawl. It was totally not groovy.

The Legion stubbornly refuses to throw in the towel, however. The once-grand organization now consists of a handful of members and a Facebook page, but they get by on improvisation, ingenuity, and a desire to show everyone else that they could still kick ass and take names, if they felt like it. As a side-note, now that they're no longer a part of the Church, their strict rules and code of conduct have dwindled to "helpful guidelines."

Class: Low-level knight--Archer class. Normally the Legion would continue Matt's training until he was at least 20, but a lack of new recruits and a large number of retirees made it necessary to streamline the certification process. He became a full-fledged knight about six months ago. Technically he's an archer, not a knight, but the Legion uses the term to describe anyone who graduates training. (They currently have a Low Level Knight-- Web Designer, and his training only consisted of Adobe Dreamweaver and basic demon recognition.)

Special Abilities:
Sense Evil: While he's not powerful enough to pinpoint the exact location of a demon or possessed person in a crowded room, he can sense whether such a being is nearby.

Repel/Contain Evil: If given adequate time, Matt can set up an anti-demon barrier around a room or other area. This is done through a mixture of low-level incantations and sigils: He lays objects inscribed with sigils to create a perimeter of defensible space, then uses incantations to maintain the barrier. Larger areas take more time and effort to defend. Alternately, he can use this same principle to trap weaker demons within a barrier. Again, smaller spaces are easier to maintain.

Holy Arrow: Some of Matt's arrows are inscribed with sigils. When activated, these sigils cause the arrow to burn with a white fire that eats away matter of a demonic or evil origin. The fire is useless against non-demons.

Smoke sigil: Matt has a very very basic grasp of non-Legion-based sigil magic. The only sigil he's any good at is the equivalent of a smoke bomb. Once activated, it creates a harmless cloud of smoke to blind enemies while he makes a hasty retreat I MEAN TACTICAL RELOCATION.

Bio: Matt is the fourth generation of his family to serve the Holy Legion. He's quite happy to follow in his father's footsteps, despite the Legion's recent descent into less-reputable territory. ARRGH IT IS THREE A.M. I WILL FINISH THE BIO LATER BECAUSE I NEED SLEEP NOW.

Equipment/Belongings:

Reliquary: Matt has a small metal reliquary hanging on a chain around his neck, about the size of a chapstick. Inside is a second-class relic-- a thumbnail-sized scrap of fabric that was once touched by Saint Audrey. It offers a minimal level of protection against demonic energy and wards off possession.

Bow and arrows: He IS an archer.
Hunting knife: Because having something more than an arrow to defend himself with makes him feel better. He's by no means an expert with it.

Sigil... pennies.: In the good old days, the Legion gave its members special copper medallions with the image of St. George, which could be engraved with sigils. Nowadays, the Legion is flat out broke. Matt's ancestors received a box of medallions and an ornate carving knife; Matt received a sandwich bag full of pennies and metal washers and an exact-o knife. Sigils take time to prepare, so he can only use whatever sigils he made for himself before leaving his house. He could only prepare more in the field if he had enough time and could dedicate his complete attention to the task.

Ring: All members of the Holy Legion have a gold ring marked with the sign of St. George: A white shield with a red cross. He wears it on the index finger of his right hand.

Oh Toast, I've had an idea but I'd like to check if it's alright first.

Basically a sigil user with quite a small repertoire of spells - I might go so far as to detail their entire list seeing it'll only be half a dozen or so. Some might blur the line between an item and a spell though.

They'd be focused on enhancement type spells, augmenting or adding extra properties to themselves or items. This would be pretty important as they'd be melee focused and if you are going to be going toe to toe with even a least demon, magically boosting your speed and strength is really handy for not dying.

And a school infiltrator too.

Alright, so I'm not quite finished (i.e. no Bio), but I guess this'll do for now. Let's just hope the concept isn't TOO suicidal.


Character Name: Rob Brinford

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Organization: Wardens

Class: Close Range Specialist

Special Abilities: Quick Healing: For some reason, whether it is supernatural or not, Rob can heal at a quickened pace that makes him seem almost superhuman. Almost is the key word here, he’s not regenerating. Wounds that would take a week to heal seal up in a couple of days, broken bones set in weeks instead of months, minor scratches are gone within a day or two, etc. etc.

Pain Tolerance: Rob’s been taught to fight since the day he was born, and not forgivingly either. The quick healing didn’t help much, since pain would just recede quickly compared to a normal person. At this point, Rob barely notices pain, and can fight on for quite a bit longer with wounds than your average person.

Melee/Close Range Proficiency:
Rob knows how to handle a wide variety of melee and close range weapons rather well due to his upbringing. Of course, he doesn’t actually have much in the way of weapons, but if he got his hands on something he could use it well enough.

Bio: Robert Brinford was born into a family that had a small reputation for demon hunting and were well noted in the Wardens. They were more like vagrant mercenaries than anything, but they made a living killing what horrible abominations they could. With Rob having the potential to become something better than just a wandering hunter, his parents introduced him into the business rather quickly. In fact, on his first hunt he was only 2. And he had nightmares for weeks.

Following that, Rob started not to become scared, and the actual training began at the lovely age of 4. It was brutal at first, but then his parents noticed that his cuts and bruises were clearing up within the day. After that it became a nightmare as the family visited more and more people to help train the boy. If not for the healing and growing pain tolerance, Rob probably would have died right then and there. But he didn't, and the training continued for years on end.

When Rob's parents felt he was finally ready at age 16, they shadowed him on his first solo assignment. He performed quite well, killing a lesser demon and scattering the small Hell Cult that summoned it with relative ease. Seeing their son perform so well, Rob's parents gave him a bit of money and the names of some people in the Wardens and tossed him out to be on his own. Rob still keeps in touch with them because he really didn't know anything but the crappy treatment anyway.

Now, three years later, Rob is well known amongst the Wardens as an up and coming young hunter with a good attitude and a quick recovery rate. He's been known to take hits for others due to some reason or another, and is all too willing to go up close and personal to finish off a demon.

When the issue of who to send as a Protector for the Chosen came up, Rob was a quick choice among the Wardens. He was close to her age which would allow him to follow her to school easily enough, and his protective nature would ensure that the Chosen would remain safe no matter what. Plus some pure muscle wouldn't necessarily be bad in this situation, considering all the possible threats.

Well, all that and Rob actually needs a bit of an education.

Equipment/Belongings: Combat Knife: Easy to conceal, efficient, and deadly. Rob is rarely seen without this emergency weapon.

Glock 9mm: Rob’s backup weapon when he’s actually geared up, and main concealed weapon when not geared up.

Sawed Off Shotgun: Rob’s main weapon when fighting, a lever action hunting shotgun that Rob has learned how to reload one-handed. That last part can be considered showy, but it’s very effective when he’s using more than just the shotgun.


So, as usual, I'll change anything if it's unnecessary etc etc. That and I'll make sure to finish the Bio before too long.

Thanks. The dark magic thing is just there because I forgot to take it off. I guess the illusions will be affective enough against humans, or maybe a stupid demon.

Class: Sniper/Handgun Expert

Special Abilities

Zoom: Isaac’s eyes have the supernatural ability to zoom in on a target, he can use this ability in conjunction with his weapons to pull off what seemed to be an impossible shot.

Connections: Throughout the centuries in Eastern Europe Isaac’s family has helped many families with their supernatural problems; this has led the Tanase family to having a Huge Network of Families located all over the world that owe them their lives. Due to this Isaac can call in favors from American government officials to even the boss of Russian organized crime, these favors ranger from getting the feds off his trail to smuggling weapons into the country for his use.

Bio:
Isaac can trace back his family history all the way back to Rome; this is possible because all the hunters in his family kept many detailed journals about their hunts and who they helped. Every first born son in his family becomes a hunter, inheriting his father’s Journal and contacts. As you can imagine this is what has allowed for such a huge network of contacts all over the world, but mainly in the U.S. and Eastern Europe.

The first hunter in his family was a Roman Soldier by the name of Septimius Tanase who later changed his name to Marcus Severus after he abandoned his unit because of a suicide mission. Years later he became a hunter after settling down in what would become modern day Romania. A few generations later and the family name was replaced by the original. Throughout the centuries Isaac’s ancestors were all Aristocrats, Statesmen, Generals, and Politicians. Of course they were never directly related to him because every first born son became a hunter.

Isaac started training at the age of eight gladly taking on the role of a hunter, or Warden as they are called today. Throughout his years of training he specialized in long range attacks, and explosives. This is why most of his targets never see his face. He has gathered bits and pieces of stories about the Mother of Hell and what could happen because of her. Currently he is searching for her, for he has decided to protect her and make sure she won’t fall into the wrong hands.

Equipment/Belongings:

VSSK Sniper Rifle: Isaac received this Sniper Rifle due to his connections in both the Russian Government and the Russian Mafia, up until now he was using an SVD but this new Rifle will replace it as his mainstay weapon. As a silenced High Caliber sniper rifle it will see much use.

Colt Mk. V King Cobra: Bought at a local store in the Mid-West because Isaac has an interest in revolvers.

OTs-33 "Pernach" automatic pistol: Pistol bought from the black market used for close quarters defense when needed.

'70 Barracuda: Inherited from his father when his father died. Stores his weapons in the trunk.

Mauve: Looks good. Pending your bio, approved.

Arhra: I think we had something like that in the last game (though, I think it was a paladin), so go ahead and write up a character with that.

lazy: As long as you don't go overboard with the "ignore pain" stuff, approved. And get your bio done, you slacker.

Bard: Very good. In case I forgot to say it: Approved.

rapter Exna on the oresightfa. The potential for god-moddery is just too high with a skill like that.

I'm also somewhat wary of the "connections"...mostly because anyone in any organization could claim much that "many families owe them their lives". I'm willing to let it slide for now, but go crazy with it.

And the grenade launcher is a rather heavy weapon for a Warden to be carrying. Those are generally the realm of the SECA guys. It's for balance sake, really...SECA dudes get heavy weapons, Wardens get special abilities, but still can use guns. So, sorry...no launcher. If you want to replace it with another weapon, you can.

But at least you got a bio up.

Ok edited, took out the Grenade launcher and foresight. On the topic of connections it is there to give me a reason for having these Russian made weapons, and a way to get the feds off his tail if need be.
