Overcast: Yeah, that's alright...a good portion of that could of been covered under the catch-all phrase "military training". You won't really have to worry about ammo, though...if I was going for realism, there wouldn't be demons running around.

Approved.

With that, I'm to bed. It's fricken' 4 am.

EDIT

Frickin' ninja'd!

DanteFalcon: I just got a few nit-picks for ya.

The "sense demons at a mile thing" is a bit much...in fact, it's way much. Let's face it, a mile is a lot of space for a sixth sense to constantly monitor, not to mention for a GM to constantly have to drop hints of "there may be a demon here" and "there may be a demon there". If you insist on the sense demons, we'd have to tone it down quite a bit...a few dozen meters at most. If that's unacceptable, you can always change the ability.

Also, if your class if gunslinger, why the heck is your primary weapon a sledgehammer?

Fix those and you should be in business.

I had a hard time deciding between SECA and Society, and maybe Sealers... So I kinda split the difference? Also, the sword is a very minor aspect of my character, and can be removed upon request.

Done!

Character Name: Adam Morrey

Gender: Male

Age: 28

Organization: The Royal Society of Vampire-Slayers; the British counterpart or SECA, and hundreds of years older, it began as a handful of lords and priests hunting "vampires" and their kin across the English countryside and wherever else they happened to be, and was formally chartered by Queen Elizabeth I to do this task in 1574. Close to the turn of the 20th century, under the leadership of a Lord Anthony Helsin the Royal Society was re-organized as a formal, professional organization, and modernized into the military-class fighting force it is today. Though some of its titles and bureaucracy remain planted--or mired--in tradition (like its name; the organization realized it was dealing with demons, not vampires, sometime in the 1750's), it is as able a force as SECA is in the US. While in the past it was a club for religious and/or adventure-loving lords and clergy, after Helsin it became a professional military organization, recruiting from among the best officers, soldiers, and, of course, chaplains in the British SAS and the general British military, as well as taking their pickings of the top recruits of the commonwealth nations, under certain conditions.

Class: Gunslinger

Special Abilities: Military training

Bio: Adam always loved the stories. Midnight meetings in roadside chapels, chivalrous duels with demons, "Vampire" towns, the battle of L'Oudon in the Hundred Years War (when the English army clashed with the French demon town)... The whole lot fascinated him as a child. And that fascination blossomed into a love of history, in Adam's later youth; as a young adult he swallowed all sorts of history, read as much of it as he could, and dreamt of studying it someday.

However, his parents, though loving, were poor, and his only chance at an education, he felt, was a stint in the army. He soon found himself a recruit in the SAS, and, by what to him seemed a sheer coincidence, he found a new love. The military provided him with a perspective he'd never had before, and he ended up, almost without realizing it, going career.

While in the service, he was tapped for a special assignment: Royal Society. Joining them was like a dream come true; he was able to live the stories himself, and though he soon realized much of the drama suspense, and glamour in them had to be aggrandizement, he nevertheless felt he was a part of something he wanted to be.

Equipment/Belongings:

Heckler & Koch G36K (three full clips armor-piercing rounds)
.50 Desert Eagle (see Overcast's) (three full clips)
AN-PVS7 Nightvision goggles
Two grenades
Body armor
In his possession but not on him (as in, in his room wherever he is, unless I say otherwise), L118A1 sniper rifle (ten full clips), seven more clips for each of his other guns, boxes of ammo for each gun, five day's rations)

Appearance: Looks like a soldier... Has short brown hair, brown eyes, stands at 5'11", built like a soldier, generally wearing his uniform even when off duty... He tends to be cheerful, and something of a pointdexter when off-duty; he'll be happy to reference barely-relevant historical/mythical facts at semi-awkward times. When on-duty, he is strongly focused, and strongly motivated; he hopes to be part of history himself, by being part of helping to seal the Gates.

(Some of the more embarrassing references to Hellsing were either 1) my (really, really bad) sense of humor or 2) meant to be from without the organization. Particularly the name, which I had meant to be what others call it, as a result of the Hellsing anime. I also took the Church entirely out of the organization. Though I think the case could be made for them to be in, I'd rather play than argue. If you (care to) think of some kind of way to include them, I suppose that would do. And the (kinda lapsed, still distant) Sealers character was kinda an idea... I included that I'd even thought of it for some stupid reason. Lastly, thanks Hawk; I'd imagined that the SAS was pure military and there'd be some police force that would step in when the shit hit the fan, but meh.)

Arghhh, everyone's going SECA (or near enough), and Overcast just basically came up with the same character I was thinking (right down to the vehichle full of weapons and ammo bit). If you don't mind having another SECA former soldier type then I'll get to work on my guy, but if not then I'll try and think up something else.

EDIT; Also Gorefiend, I don't think we really have a British version of SWAT. About the most advanced you'd get in terms of general police force would be the Metropolitan Firearms Command, but they're not really in the same league. Generally we use the SAS for when the shit hits the fan.

Yeah, I noticed that. Oddly enough, we had the exact opposite problem last time I ran this...everyone was Society so the later people felt obliged to go SECA.

I'm bashing anyone's choices...just find it interesting.

Anyways...

DanteFalcon: That's better. My only word advice is that sledgehammer hunting will work on straight-up lesser demons...but going up against anything other than those unsupported is good way to get killed.

With that in mind, welcome to the party.

Gorefiend: I know it says its a placeholder, but let's get a few things out of the way...

That should help out somewhat.

I just spent a good twenty minutes trying to find an appropriate picture for the first ten words of your organization description...but apparently there are no face palms in the Hellsing anime or manga. Really, I'm okay with the fact that you're basically copying Hellsing...but could you at least change the name? Please? For the sake of my sanity and copyright laws?

Also, you're going to have to make a choice between military hardware and being able to use holy incantations and relics. You cannot have training/access in/to heavy weapons and magic...it just ain't going to work that way. Sorry, but there has to be a balance between gunners and mages, and a gunner who can use magic just blows that out of the water. So, no.

Keep that in mind when your finishing up your character.

Ill put a place holder because I'm busy.
I have a character in mind, but it is very dependent on the setting. When (and where) does Evil's return take place?

Eh we got three people in SECA right now, and that is including the Mother of Hell and the Liaison of the Protectors. I'm sure there can be another SECA out there.

And my character as an ex-military man is pretty well defined by his time in Intelligence and ends up seeming a lot like a member of MiB rather than a former soldier. I figure that another former military man could be fine with a different development. After all guns are popular, and carrying some in your car is a generally wide idea.

Yeah, I just reread yours and he seems more intelligence agency type rather than full blown military. Screw it, I'm going with my original idea then;

Character Name: Colonel Donald Wight

Gender: Male

Age: 30

Organization: SECA

Class: Soldier/Gunslinger

Special Abilities: Military training, extreme emphasis on weapon handling and vehicle driving. Everything from motorbikes to tanks, he even has a couple dozen hours of chopper experiance.

Bio: Don signed up for the army straight out of high school, it had always been his ambition to join and nothing was going to stop him. Once he was in, he quickly began to shine; he was a great marksman, a first class soldier and rose quickly through the ranks. He saw action in several conflicts around the world, and saw a lot of horrible things in that time, including the deaths of many good friends, but never once regretted his choice. After 10 years, his superiors informed him he had been selected for "Specialist Training", and Don jumped at the chance, not knowing exactly what it entailed, only that it was probably something of utmost importance. Of the original 12 candidates that made it through selection, only 4 finally made the grade, with Wight elected as the squad leader.

It was then that his squad was told what it was they had been training for; a demon hunting mission. They were airlifted to a remote part of south america, where the local Hell Cult had raised a number of lesser demons, along with a couple of more powerful blood summoned. The mission didn't go so well, with only 2 men making it back alive and one of those was severely injured. Wight had been the only one unharmed and had managed to succesfully fend off a horde of lessers and the final blood summoned, with limited ammo and resources, for over a day until he had finally destroyed them all. Upon return to base he was expecting massive fallout and possible demotion (or worse) for his failure to keep his men alive, but quite the opposite; it seemed the mission itself had been the final part of his training, and he had passed with flying colours. He was granted a new security clearance, "Beyond Classified", and was finally let in on the truth about the Mother of Hell and asked to become a Protector. He agreed, and joined SECA shortly thereafter. The way he figured, demons were just another enemy, just worse than any other and he would do his duty to fight them just as he always had.

Equipment/Belongings: SIG P228 pistol as a sidearm (M11, military version (because everyone else is using Deagles!))
A military Humvee, now for his private use. It's been modified per his request with armour plating, bullet proof windows, a customised turbo-charged engine and other general mods to make it more reliable and stable. It's about as close to a tank as you could get without actually being in a tank. In the rear Don keeps an almost endless supply of weapons, including;

An M4 carbine (his backup weapon).
An XM8 automatic rifle (drum mag). His other backup weapon.
A selection of handguns, including a collection of Colts and Berettas.
Grizzly Big Boar 50.cal sniper rifle.
Spas 12 shotgun.
Grenades (fragmentation, flash, incindiary and smoke).
An M249 Browing LMG (for when massive machinegun fire is required).
A Milkor multiple grenade launcher (and appropriate ammo, including HE and thermobaric shells).

But his main weapon is his trusted FN P90 sub-machinegun, which he carries everywhere. He one day hopes to aquire a stinger missile launcher, but isn't sure if it will fit in his car.

At one point he did have sigil imbued ammo for some of these weapons, including Ice 9 grenades, lightning buckshot shells, hypersonic 50.cal rounds and a couple of so called "Godkiller" pistol rounds. Unfortunately he has since used them all.

Yes, I am prepared for war. Hell I figure, since SECA is government funded, and since I'm allowed a car full of guns, I may as well get the biggest car I can find and fill it to the brim with military hardware.
Oh and the infinite ammo thing is kinda a joke really, sinc you said ammo wouldn't matter, I thought I might as well give a reason as to why it doesn't matter.
