Well I'm sure the denizens are grateful for being saved from the scratch, and Hephaestus can apparently fix anything (and basically offered to "repair" davesprite when he brought Heph the broken Caledfwlch). Or maybe they got godtier Fef to heal him. Or sprites can regenerate. Any of these are plausible.

What I mean is that Davesprite as an entity was created with a sword through his chest.
Healing or repairing is reversing damage. But Davesprite doesn't have a wound to reverse or damage to heal. The hole was a part of him.

Well he IS being rendered in a symbolic manner right now, and a sword sticking out of your stomach might get in the way of playing a game on a computer. So it could be that he just took the sword out for a while, and the hole isn't being drawn.

Davesprite took it out and set it aside so it wasn't in the way. And as you can see in the picture, no hole.

Besides, a good night's rest typically heals all wounds in video games. Imagine what a year's worth of rest can do.

All the more reason the particular thing loses some of the significance it might ordinarily have.

I mean we see John and Vriska's relationship as this long overarching several year long to tell story but for John it's several online chats he had on the day where all that stuff happened and he directly destroyed a Universe.
