There's definite evidence toward Lil' Cal having sentience, and besides the whispers and all of that UU or uu or whatever fucking 13.5th troll it was became really concerned at the sight of Lil' Cal in the scratchverse, before dismissing that one as not having whatever sinister qualities he was looking for. This does reinforce the possibility of pre-scratch Lil' Cal being sentient and subtly malevolent.

I think that was just a completely incompatible combination falling apart rather than actual suicide. It's not like Dave+Crow or Jade+GoodDogBestFriend where one personality can completely override the other with some minimal influence from the other half. It was two distinct entities that couldn't stay merged together like that.

Presumably the same will happen for the other corpses that Gamzee will inevitably throw together in a kernel for the other kids, except perhaps Sollux+Sollux. That might shed some light on whatever his plans are.
