Could be the Ultimate Alchemy, like Arc is saying, but I get the feeling that if that's what it is, then that's only the final part of it. This goes beyond just combining or fabricating objects from basic codes. I think it's probably the act of playing the game itself that does it, sort of like the singing of the Ainur - how all the different parts of the song played out on the world. Right from the get-go, various things about the players are imprinted on their Medium (calling it The Medium makes a lot more sense now) - their kernelsprites, their first totems, and whatever aspects of their selves are drawn on to create their personal worlds.

And I disagree about the whole "they created the world through playing the game" thing. I don't think playing the game actually created the universe. The Creation would have happened through ultimate alchemy, once the denizens were defeated. The trolls would have had an influence on how it turned out, and since the game influenced them pretty massively, it does have an indirect influence. But I think at most, the trolls just left... signatures. Frogs and myths and zodiac signs. Which really makes me regret that I was born under Virgo (no offense, Kanaya), rather than, say, Libra.

And then you have your brain still hurting over the time progress of the frog ruins in both sessions/worlds, the wizard's orb in the wasteland and other timeline markers that just don't make sense (and especially how Kanaya's house matches Jade's almost exactly).

It might have been the Ultimate Alchemy, but remember Skaia is the 'source of unlimited creative potential'. It is very possible that just being on Skaia allowed them to craft Earth. Or it may have been the Ultimate Alchemy and Skaia.

I think they alchemize Skaia into Earth/Alternia, or somekind of weird crossover shit that makes the Exiles appear on wasteland Earth/Alternia.

The exiles appear on the wasteland of the players planet because they go through the portals that appear around Skaia due to the reckoning.

The players get a new, prosperous planet, and the carapaces get their old, ruined planet and have to repair the pieces.
