A few minutes could easily have gone by without the fire expanding too far outside of Jack's initial red lightning burst, which went pretty far (lit up like a third of the planet, anyway). Oil is a fairly slow burning fuel to my recollection, although I rather expect THIS oil is burning at the speed of plot.

But yeah, I wanna say I agree that it probably hasn't happened yet, but I can see the events playing out in that sequence, with whatever happened to knock John down there being partially a consequence of his prototyping.

As for Rose, I think she's starting to know everything both because of the Horrorterrors, and becasue of her interactions with the Trolls.

Well, sorta yeah. We know he doesn't prototype anything because Rose knows how very, very, very bad it would be if he didn't. Plus, the rules of dramatic storytelling insist that it not get prototyped. My guess is it didn't get prototype, Jack's fight caused whatever put John where he's at and prevented him from prototyping it, and Jade has finished things up leaving Jack prototyped with not being prototyped.

Edit: Actually, at this point I'm honestly thinking fedorafreak is going to somehow come into the main plot.

Yeah. I actually misread "wait why the hell would you do that, what was the point" without the "wait," which made it seem more like John had done something stupid that caused him to be SO FRUSTRATED, not just throwing his PDT into the oil. So yeah, Skaia only knows what just happened.
