Perhaps he meant that we have confirmation that Snowman will die eventually, given that Lord English has been summoned, and therefore Scratch's job is done. But then that should be obvious, we've known for a long time that Lord English was already around.

Still, it's interesting that Doc Scratch wants to die.

There are ways to do it right without having to introduce a whole third Universe. Crafty ways, which is why I am remaining suspicious until it is for sure

The scenario wherein Rose's contact is Doc Scratch is the simple and obvious one. The person Rose describes matches what little we know of him well enough, and it's plausible to believe that, once his purpose was completed and his master summoned, he would have no particular reason to want to remain.

The scenario in which there's a third First Guardian we suddenly need to be aware of requires ignoring the above and introducing a new character literally out of nowhere. This particular case would also require establishing both why the new guy would have any knowledge of Rose, as well as why he would have any inclination to contact her specifically, out of every other living person, including two other first guardians, in at least two universes.

Hussie's a massive tease, and complicated stuff like this is right up his alley, but he introduces the complexities gradually over time. He doesn't just dump it all on the reader like what the above scenario would entail. This particular scenario is not something one should place their bets on.

I understand it's a wide off-chance and much easier to just be the obvious way, that still doesn't mean I'm not going to doubt a bit for the off-chance. The explaination was entirely unnecessary. I'm suspicious, not unable to connect the dots or adamantly bull-headed. Just...not holding my breath until I see it right there
