I prefer the one with just Vriska, Karkat, and Eridan. Especially since in that version everyone has snacks.

I suppose I just never liked Kanaya, and I like Eridan best out of the four trolls involved, thus I'm the only person who didn't particularly enjoy these updates.

What is with the Kanaya hype? Before this all she ever did was have that one bitch off with Rose (The most uninteresting of the kids).

Well, for one thing, we've been calling "She becomes a Rainbow Drinker" since her death, and this is a nice payoff.

Secondly, what she did here was quite awesome. She singlehndedly beat the shit out of the three most dangerous trolls on the asteroid, and got her reenge on Eridan in manner most cathartic.

And I guess because there are a good number of people who dislike Eridan (I am not saying you are wrong for liking him, just making notice of a trend that I happen to be a part of myself)

...And I guess the fact that she was introduced wielding a chainsaw, and is overall one of the more sane and reasonable trolls made a good impression on people.

It's less that everyone wished for Kanaya to come back, and more than the three people she comically beat up were an evil clown, a HUGE BITCH and a whiny emo kid, all of which had killed at least one other troll.

I meant specifically before these updates. I can see why Kanaya would get liked now, since those three are the (on average) three most liked trolls.

Before this I saw a lot of love for Kanaya and how her death was somehow worse then the others. I never really understood why since she's been rather unimportant and boring until now.

Sane does tend to be boring next to crazy. I'll admit that Kanaya wasn't exactly my favorite, but she was a likable character.

And her death carried with it the destruction of the Matriorb, so I think I would consider her death sequence to be worse than Feferi's.

I have never found Kanaya remotely boring, and in fact, found her one of the most consistently awesome, rational, likable, and deceptively fun trolls around.

It's just that her humor is somewhat more subtle. See, for example, her "unedited" version of her first conversation with Rose, included as an attachment. That was a fantastic moment, but one that's easily missed if you don't click the link. There's also her slow catching on to human customs such as sarcasm, which she wielded "brilliantly" against Eridan in her Alterniabound update.

...I dunno, maybe she's an acquired taste, but she was my favorite Homestuck character before these recent developments and now she's really gone above the rest of the field.

I think what you're calling boring a lot of people would call "Being one of the only characters in this comic who wasn't shithive psycho all the goddamn time".
