Eridan is funny in the sense that we laugh at him, and not with him.

Also, "pimp slap with a science wand" isn't a character trait, especially considering he had it for all of like a month or so.

With that said, if you feel Eridan's behavior is similar to yours, it's probably a good sign that you should reevaluate yourself. Eridan is not a role model, is not a goal you should aspire to reach, is not someone to emulate, under any circumstances, whatsoever.

I want Kanaya to die a terrible death at this point.

Edit: To loyal, I know, But me and my 2 others friends all read Homestuck and we just throw references in to our everyday conversations flowingly, and it's hilarious.
In the same sense, we all have our certain trolls that act the most like us, Mine being Eridan, the other two being Sollux and Terezi, whenever we XBL Text msg eachother we also use our trolls text quirks and stuff. So naturally i would be sad that mine died. We have actually gone to the extent of changing our GTs to the troll name and then the trollian handle.

Quite extreme. But it is so worth it.

Kanaya is like, third or fourth best troll.

Edit: Eridan is like third worst. And those worse than him are only such because they didn't get enough screen time.

Edit: In a sense of actually trolling i mean. Not so much the murdering part. Although i rather like that too. :P

He pretty much started the fighty between him and Sollux. Its not like any rational person would have done anything else if they believed it was in their abilities. He then killed Fef, killed ANY chance of the troll surviving, which goaded Kanaya into attacking.

He more or less killed those people in cold blood.

In related news, it's always a bit discouraging to note that a disproportionate percentage of Andrew's statistically predominantly young, male audience finds a character like Eridan someone to admire and emulate. I appreciate the fact that Andrew actually granted a character like Kanaya the opportunity to wreak vengeance upon him. At best, Eridan was enjoyable insofar as he was laughably pathetic and fun to mock; at worst, he seemed like a bundle of sociopathic, misogynistic, genocidal desperation. While many of us might relate to his poor luck in relationships, Eridan's reactions to said failures were objectively atrocious; and it isn't like there isn't another character who also had foul luck and yet handled her ensuing loneliness in an infinitely more rational and preferable way.

...and if you think to relate to him because his utter inability to properly interpret social cues, well...there's always Tavros.

Seems like he is the only one I've seen. Hopefully, no one else aspires to Eridan like him.

But yeah, Eridan is pretty much the worst.

I've heard and argued with several in the past on the MSPA forums, most notably after Feferi's death, when several (predominantly young male) forumites were actually applauding Eridan for killing her because she rejected him and destroyed their moirail relationship or something.

...Granted, a lot of that stupidity dissipated once Eridan really went off the deep end by destroying the matriorb and killing Kanaya.

Mostly in being dramatic. :o

And to Bard, not really because, he went up to talk to Fef, and then Sollux proceeded to flip the fuck out, and then he tried to 'stop him', leading into the duel where Eridan kicked his ass. Then Feferi got mad at him for just pretty much defending himself, and proceeded to attack, and in retaliation accidentally killed her (It would have been extremely hard for him to not kill her while retaliating with that wand :P) and then Kanaya (from my perspective) was just kinda lookin at him, and apparently he though she was about to attack, so he destroyed the matriorb (not sure why......) and then her.

So only about 1/2 of it was cold blood, since sollux wasn't killed but he didn't care for him either.

Edit: While Equius represents my zodiac sign and i can admit i do see a bit of him in my future ( minus the sweating problem O.o), For the meanwhile, Eridan is most like me. And that being said, I do generally despise most of humanity, just in the sense that there are so many people that are complete douchebags. =.=
