John's Dad and Rose's mom were clearly into eachother though. Had they survived, they would very possibly have married or something of the sort. Thus, John and Rose would be step-siblings. Not that hard to understand.

I hold out some hope for John/Vriska, but looking back on things, regardless of what Vriska was going for at the time, they fall pretty clearly into Moirail territory.

There is yet hope though!

Her first boyfriend is doomed with a girl waiting for him in the other life.

Well John and Rose's parents are dead now, so they don't have to worry about being step-siblings at the very least.

I think the fact that Dad/Mom explicitly happened in the narrative wouldn't be ignored and forgotten just because they died.
It's like the first and most absolute canon <3 ship in the entire story.
