They are only dreaming inside the Bubbles in the first place because Feferi got the horrorterrors to make them. Instead of Dave's consciousness taking control of his original-dream-self when he sleeps, it takes control of his memory-dream-self; which exists solely because of the dream bubble. If his memory-self were to leave the Bubble, there would be no more Memory Dave for his consciousness to control.

That's the way I see it at least.

I've re-read homestuck twice. I forget when I re-read it the first time, but the second time was shortly after we saw Jack kill Mom and Dad. If you count when I got into homstuck (when I caught up it was at, roughly, the beginning of Act 5 Act 2) that's three massive Homstuck binges, with a fourth ready to happen once the Scratch occurs.

I went back once.

Mostly because I first read Homestuck when it was halfway(?) through Act 5 Act 2. Once I got to Act 5 Act 1 I started to skim hard because I wanted to know what was happening with the kids and didn't care about the trolls. Eventually I went back and skimmed through Acts 1-4, then read Act 5 completely since after a while in Act 5 Act 2 I started to care about the trolls.

I doubt I'll ever go through again.

I do go back and watch the flashes every now and then.

Even after I learned, grew up, and came to be on the right side of a lot of important issues, I was still angry, abrasive, and generally increased the amount of hate in the world, in pretty unacceptable ways.
