I'm probably alone here but I'd have actually respected Andrew more if he was just like "Yeah guys, sorry, they're all Caucasian."

(Though personally, I tend to view Jade / Jake as Asian and John / Jane as mixed-race. I have a half-white, half-Korean friend who'd make the perfect John.)

But, really, given their hair colors, how couldn't Dirk, Dave, Rose and Roxy be Caucasian? I guess thirteen year olds could like, dye their hair or something? But that'd be a weird thing for absolutely no other character to ever mention and also when they were "created" they looked the same?

I sorta thought he did the retcon as just a joke, granted, an immature joke. I think Hussie would have been better either not even responding to the topic or just giving a definitive answer.

The characters arent even related to any humans outside their ectosiblings and parents so I would actually accept that they were all just completely chalk white and were some race independent of themselves.
