That raises an important point I forgot to address in my balls out rant.
Sexual identity develops over time. We already know something that develops over time at pretty much exactly the same rate as sexual identity (typical)- neuronal brain connections which are built largely in childhood and then during adulesoence both grow and prune strongly to make your final person. As these develop so does your sexual identity. And these develop mostly based on your environmental impacts (genetic factors are pretty minimal here, mostly they are important for shaping some vague poorly defined trends in brain development which are less important than environmental impacts)

I think that despite all this it is pretty safe to say both Dirk and Bro share the same sexuality for narrative reasons (exploring the younger versions of previously undeveloped Guardians mean we unearth aspects of the Guardian's personalities which were otherwise mysterious), despite the alternative possibilities which you can get from real-world science.
