It's not easy to be unsympathetic in Homestuck, but Vriska rises admirably to the task.

I have a lot of pity and sympathy for Vriska. Don't get me wrong, she's an incredible BITCH, but it's becoming more clear now that she's just not capable of interacting with people in a non-antagonistic fashion, possibly due in large part to having a Lusus that needed to be constantly fed other trolls.

She wants all this stuff to be okay. She wanted AA's death to be okay, and she wants Tavros' handicap to be okay. If he overcomes it and gets stronger, she can feel justified.

Of course, it could just be that she's a psychotic, sadistic bitch, but that's really not the feel I've been getting. I don't think she likes causing pain so much as she is in the habit of doing so.

Really, if she were the kind of bitch we've been lead to believe she is, she'd probably have just rocketed Tavros through his challenges as fast as possible, because she wouldn't care beyond his survival affecting her chance of survival. She DOES care, she just doesn't express it.... well.
