Wait, you mean this conversation? Because, in the page before this, she sarcastically swoons during a scenario where she goes crazy, in order to mock the whole thing as something that would not happen and nobody needs to worry about it happening. And then in the linked page she tells John that another girl likes him, and then rudely jumps out in the middle of the conversation to talk to her own troll. And considering how frequently she talked to Kanaya and infrequently she talked to just about anyone else, it's not a big leap to guess which troll in particular took so much of her attention that it'd distract her from a chat where John is literally yelling questions at her.

I just think it's a little unfair to say there was anything about this update that was somehow unprecedented, when all the hints that Rose kept a special attention for Kanaya and that she didn't have that kind of attention for others (John pretty much outright says Rose isn't interested in him once in Act 4 for example) are all right there in the previous acts, slowly accumulating over the span of almost three actual real life years.

Maybe shipping goggles are a little necessary to notice them. But it's not as if the story didn't invite you to put them on when it made at least one half of the ship blatantly obvious the entire time.

Hell, I was wearing the shipping goggles. Or at least, I definitely wanted to wear them. As I've been clear all along, Kanaya's my favorite character and I want her to be happy -- and I've been only too eager to ship her with Rose, given her undeniable crush.

Still, from my perspective, Rose just never reciprocated.
Though that's actually been a bit of a trend with the recent updates given all the timeskipping. We're seeing new relationships develop and we've skipped years of buildup.

EDIT: Still think there's a lot of chemistry in Rose and John's conversation there. Chemistry can often be playful in a pseudo-antagonistic manner -- some of the best romantic scenes in romantic movies involve arguments and disagreements. There's no requirement for the conversation to be substantively positive or 'pleasant.' Their senses of humor are there, and they bounce off each other well.

Listen I just want my Karkat/Terezi back.

Although I would be willing to accept John/Roxy because so opposite! And John would gain the ultimate comeback.

You'd think at this point everyone in the multiverse would have learned to look out for stairs, but, well, it keeps happening.

So, I'm thinking RO was right and Rose won't remember a thing when she wakes up. And this will lead to drama as Kanaya tries to stir her memory and she thinks Kanaya may be lying, and eventually Gamzee will confirm it and save their relationship, thus keeping the promise of him being the most important character.

(I'm assuming Rose and Kanaya's relationship is the keystone of the story for the sake of this argument.)

To be honest, I wouldn't know what it's like to support two contradictory ships at once, but wouldn't the shipping goggles for both sort of... like... get in the way of each other? It seems like an inevitable issue.

Rollcall how many people actually did what the narration said and waited for the flash to finish loading before opening the dialoglog

POS had the right idea as to my preferred solution.
Monogamy is for stories that aren't Homestuck.

(But yes, supporting two contradictory ships isn't easy. At times it's easiest to imagine two Rose clones, though I imagine my coping mechanism for John now will be to put all my eggs in the Roxy basket.)

I like to think my shipping goggles are like Sam Fisher's night vision/thermal/EM goggles. One minute I see Rose winking at John and it's great AND THEN SUDDENLY

OH LOOK
IT'S KANAYA AND ROSE BEING ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE AND PERFECT AND I'M OKAY WITH THAT

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year olds life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

I wandered in here before knowing there was an update, and watched the load in full anyway just to see what would happen.
