Not that I don't feel awful for Jane (I do), but the most impactful thing for me in this last string of updates was the realization that John wouldn't be able to see a version of his father again in Alpha! Dad.
I always kind of assumed the whole reason Alpha! Dad existed in the first place was to ensure a variation of that reunion. (Then again, that was back when the Alpha kids seemed less real characters themselves and more mere narrative tools to resolve the main cast's issues.)

I dunno if we can trust the veracity of Caliborn's perspective on it. Not just because he has really really weird ideas about fucking everything, but because he's kind of basing the assumption on what he thinks of humans. Meaning he probably doesn't know Dad can throw safes and get Hearts Boxcar in a goddamn headlock.
