Yeah it seems to be a lot like that, except they got rid of Mario's one remaining vulnerability. Could be frightening, if it lasts long enough for the kids to really figure it out. But for the immediate future, I think the implications range from "harmless" to "army of trickster gods taking down Lord English without breaking a sweat". Which seems both unsatisfying and unlikely, but I bet it would at least be funny.

I liked Dirk mainly because he's the only one who got anything done in the Alpha universe (not counting the Condesce who of course as a non-native is exempt).

Of course that's no longer the case and he can join the others in being shit-useless till the Battleship and Meteor arrive to sort out everything.

I'm mostly annoyed that he went willingly.

To be fair, most people are at best ambivalent toward all the Alpha kids for one reason or another except the shippers and the fanartists.
