Not a salient comparison. In a book you describe a character's expressions, their actions, etc. in the narrative. You aren't limited only to what they say or, on occasion, think.

In comics and games you can't write into their text box how their breathing was labored or how their brow was wrinkled in consternation, you have to rely on the graphics to emote. The difference between an emotive graphical representation and a static sprite is the difference between Keanu Reeves reading a line and Anthony Hopkins reading a line.

*shrug* In any case, when looking at these two examples, I still prefer the "old" style over the new style; it's just not doing it for me as much. But it's not like it's bad, so I'm not going to be avoiding the comic or anything ridiculous...

Yeah. Although TBH I figure it's at least like, 50/50 that Davesprite just wrecks those Giclopses, given that he was 1hking them before he went back in time and that's before you add in his crazy sprite-powers.
