If I had that power I'd get some kind of aura for the hell of it, so I guess that makes sense.

Yeah, but she's not asleep. Unless the thorns/crystal ball/some other thing allows for contact while awake. Or she's just sleeping a lot off-screen.

Pretty sure it's been well established that sleeping is no longer a prerequisite for her to contact and be contacted by the Horrorterrors.

I mean she's had the Thorns ever since she got into the medium.

Well the thorns very obviously draw power from the Horrorterrors, but I'm not sure if it was confirmed that it allows contact. Can you give a link? Its not like I would be surprised if it were true though, the Thorns look pretty endgame.
