There is no evidence whatsoever suggesting that he's going to be all sneaky and clever in any way whatsoever, because he is a parody of ICP.

Again, I don't necessarily think he's going to be sneaky, that was wrong, and you're right. But I ALSO don't see him being a credible threat in single combat. If he was going to actually straight up fight anybody, I'd imagine it done from on top of some death machine or in some circus of fear he'd constructed cackle/snickering like a madman.

Like, The Joker never brawls with anybody, but he also is usually about as subtle as a clown at dinnertime. Laughing fish, hijacked blimps, all that.

I just think since I can't recall seeing him beating the shit out of anybody in anyway( didn't he just chill with the imps on his world or something? thought he gave them slime pies) that he's not gonna bust out the clown-fu.

This is pretty much going on my feeling that he's gone from Insane Clown Posse(ineffectually menacing evil clowns) to the Joker(Effectually menacing evil clown)

The Joker brawls plenty, with varying results depending on the facet of his sanity at the time. And what you aren't getting here is that the Joker has nothing at all to do with this. He has gone to the current career of ICP which has devolved into Miracles to the early career of ICP which altogether had a message of a much darker nature.

If he is following to the letter he has a hatchet.

Okay, I kinda see where you're going here. My thought is that he really hasn't so much gone from ICP to the Joker as he has just shifted from different aspect of Juggalo culture. For the most part, they're happy to just sit around in clown makeup drinking shitty cheap soda and listening to terrible music. But then you have the other side of Juggalo behavior where they're smashing Tila Tequila in the face with beer bottles. I mean, ICP's logo is a picture of a crazy dude running around with a hatchet. Savage violence is part of the package.

Gamzee hasn't stopped being an ICP reference. It's just that he is an ICP reference that isn't being played for laughs anymore.

You know, I completely forgot that they started as horrorcore rappers... but does this change much?

All that means is they went from the mIrAcLe thing(Ineffectual Menacing Evil Clowns) to darker material (Effectually Menacing Evil Clown)
edit: Basically, both things draw on the exact same trope, evil clowns, with not much in the way of subversion so I'm not seeing the difference

The difference is that it's not about the clown trope. It's Juggalo-specific behavior.

Exactly, which comes back to the subtlety. Subtlety that ICP tends to lack, let it be stories of them being brutally murdered walking down the street by random monsters, killing your neighbors for the ghost girl who said if you did it she would stay with you forever, a maze full of deathtraps(I know it sounds subtle, but believe me it is not) they have a habit of being sudden. Maybe even blunt. But subtle...that is outside their area.

Long story short. There are different kinds of evil clowns, you are thinking of the wrong kind.

Again, it's not a matter of cleverness as much as thinking he's got nothing on the people he wants to kill(except karkat) if he's planning to do it in a straight on hand-to hand fight, so he'd do it in some way that involves him not using clown-fu, even if that's just getting a gun. What I'm saying is if he kills anybody, it's not going to be in a situation in which he can easily be hurt, because if it IS he's dead like Tavrosdisco in under a second.
Obviously you two know more about ICP than me. I am very happy to admit this.

It could go either way. There's no evidence to suggest that he was incompetent in battle, only that he was never in any state of mind where he wished to engage in it. In fact, in Make Her Pay, he was shown doing somersaults and juggling his clubs around with, quite honestly, more grace and precision than any of the other trolls were showing. And that was when he was high as fuck.

If that's indicative of his level of skill, I would not put him being a very serious threat in direct combat out of the realm of probability.
