See, I had some problems on a forum once long ago (not this one) - Admittedly, I handled things poorly at first, just being unfamilar with how exactly to communicate in a Internet Forum setting. It's different than chatting, talking, or even writing a letter. Anyway, I never had need to retaliate against moderators, or admins in the form of trolling or flameing.

There was ONE case of mod abuse, which wasn't so much abuse as it was error in judgment. The IP my account was used from was banned; my school's IP. A "friend" had been temp-banned for arguing something w/ another member, and the rest of us suffered becuase of a slightly overzealous disciplinary action. I mailed the forum admins, and the site owner. Things got resolved. I didn't use the library to start trolling, and I didn't flame anyone. My friend got banned again for ban-dodging (some of us don't know when to say when...), but he never trolled so blantently as I have seen by our 'Guy who keeps showing up'.

We aren't mean to newbs here. Not the Mods. Not us regular users. If any new-users think we're too harsh as a collective forum - by all means, bring it up politely. Maybe we can explain, maybe someone was joking, maybe we have things to work on with our social skills. But as a whole, in forum-law and in user-princples, the NPF does not tolerate flameing or trolling directed twoards ANY member.

Anyone who responds to 'mod-user' or 'user-user' issues (if such a problem actually has occured, which IMO, it has not occured nearly to the degree implied by mr. make a new account every 2 seconds) in the manner we are seeing here, frankly deserves to be hit over the head with the fact that he/she is being a troll.

I think a lot of us did. Had I known then what I know now, I would have told him I was a girl when he asked. I bet I could have gotten some humorous chatlogs out of it.

Trolls are one of the benefits of this forum. Whenever one registers and does this stuff, it's like dropping a firework on the U.S. and having them retaliate with a nuke.

Oh, Otaku Son. Such an interesting case. It seems with every post he made he got stupider and more assholish. It's like the act of writing permanently drained his intellegence.

OtakuSon is just a perfect example of this, methinks. What I can't get, is how come he thinks he's in the right for...insulting people.

It's not just because he insulted Rai Rai and shiney got pissed (a very legitimate reaction, but that's not the issue). It's not because he insulted Shiney, too. It's because he insulted, period. We don't accept that in this forum, unless it's meant light-heartedly - anything else, you recieve a nice big Banhammer.

Sure, Shiney is harsh.

I think the overwhelmingly generous leniency in the rest of the mods is a really nice way to balance that - and no offense, guys. I've broken rules too (Note the grey rep box.)

Besides, we need a harsh mod for situations like this. I don't see a problem with being harsh.

EDIT: I should create a user account "shiney4tw" and create a thread in honor of OtakuSon. Seriously. It'll be like this, only the question is "Is Shiney
