Default My beef with SmarterChild

I just finished a colorful chat session with the one and only SmarterChild. I'm posting here my exploits in attempting to convince it to visit Nuklear Power.

[Edit] Sorry about the txt format. I couldn't post an rtf file.

google it. I did; it's a program that reads user input (Bob the Mercenary's side of the conversation) and tries to give an appropriate responce. It's main web page implies you can ask it about news and homework and crap. (Couldn't I just ask a REAL person?) Anyway, I think it's conversation with Bob may have fried it's circuits.

It would have been sweet if you could've gotten a commitment out of it to join nuklearpower.com, Bob.

<edit> hehe, it get pretty hilarious near the end

How bored were you, and do you have friends?

In seriousness, I've seen a similar type of "AI" somewhere else, but I forget its name. They respond to certain phrasings and somewhat adapt to what is input. It's a shame they've not yet found a way to get them to seem like better conversationalists. There are many a poor soul who could be easily deceived.

Lol... I remember my days of talking to Smarterchild. Maybe I'll set up another screenname and pick up where you left off with the conversation...

Default Gahooey?

SmarterChild used to have a second buddy out there, Radiohead Minotaur or something. I talked to it a few times... it had slightly different responses than SmarterChild, but I don't think it exists anymore. It was a promo for the Raidohead band.

Synkronized: There's a few conversation bots out there, one of the more prolific family of them is the MegaHAL. I've had (and witnessed) quite a few interesting conversations on IRC with them. Here's a few of my favorite:

<ZeekMan> Beige: No it is bridge-locked, you cannot force the player is a separate, on-its-own all mine machine that i'm not the nics themselves?
<Beige>

<Beige> ZeekMan, do people have souls?
<ZeekMan> Beige: These people have souls?

<Diamond> Zeekman, Diamond?
<ZeekMan> Diamond: Diamond is against you.
<Diamond> I bet he is.

<inmastein> zeekman is dead! Murder! oh wait, nevermind.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: Oh, wait, i need a computer program like the matrix, its almost always get to extraction with a robosexual.
<inmastein> zeekman: What?! Who is a robosexual?
<ZeekMan> inmastein: What is a robosexual?
<inmastein> zeekman: Well, there comes a special time in a mans life when the flowers bloom and younger children call him a freak and the moon becomes comforting and sunlight is painful.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: With any luck when he comes in.
<inmastein> zeekman: Well, its more a matter of where he comes in, all perverted puns intended.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: This wouldn't really be overclocking, it would have more of a client for business.
<inmastein> zeekman: Oh, yeah, the whole server client model in a robosexual relationship becomes difficult to work out.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: It's difficult for me to compare the two, which anybody with sense knows is impossible.
<inmastein> zeekman: Tell me about it. I mean, what do you do when the robot is the client? Ack, my friend. Ack.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: That's probably what it is.
<inmastein> zeekman: It gets even more confusing with the group models. I mean, theres the simplicity of a single server, multiple clients. But when you have one client and multiple servers, things get rediculous.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: You mean the drink.
<inmastein> zeekman: Well, too many drinks lead to it, definately.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: I haven't worked out all the time. I only make refrences to it, definately.
<inmastein> zeekman: Then you're in the company of friends, because none of us work out either.
<ZeekMan> inmastein: Because you're not on irc, so i can work.
<inmastein> zeekman: Are you telling me to quit?
<ZeekMan> inmastein: Want me to quit?
<inmastein> zeekman: How about we both quit?
C-Dog: Yeah, SmarterChild can do that and some other things. Note what SmarterChild said in response to the Nuklear Power URL.

I heard about one of those things before:
Back in the day, before the intrernet, a dude logged onto his workstation and began talking with one of his coworkers. Unfortunately, that person happened to be a converstaton-AI dealy that was left running. Chaos ensues.

Very, and yes. Actually, I was typing in between doing homework and research. The net was pretty slow on my comp last night so I decided to do this while waiting for sites to load. After that I figured out the cause of the slowness, a steady invasion of adware on my machine. But, my anti-virus liberated me later

That would explain the ads in the conversation.

Nahh... Smarterchild always gives ads to his "other features". It had nothing to do with the adware... just Smarterchild being his usual annoying self .
