Defcon - Everybody Dies
Any of us forumites got this wonderful RTS? I'd greatly enjoy getting blown up.
For anyone who doesn't know, Defcon is the latest game from British developer Introversion. Based on the cult film "WarGames" players take part in Global Thermonuclear War. Using a plenthora of Ships, Planes and Silos, players must bomb the living daylights out of the other countries. Alliences are formed and broken during the course of a game, and the winner is the player that kills the most population, aswell as losing the least of their civilians. Wouldn't you rather a nice game of chess?

I'm absolutely horrible at this game, I really am. Still, I managed to beat the tutorial. Screw you China and your seemingly endless flow of fighters.

I'm likely going to buy it soon. I've been excited since its announcement. I think I even made a thread here at NPF...

I've been following this game since way before it came out. Remember my pics from Superpower (Japan melting)? The SP forums have been buzzing about the game since the announcement, so I'm crazy excited to try it out. When my next paycheck comes I'm grabbing a copy. We should set up an NPF game with allies and such.
I'm really glad to hear I'm not the only one out there who's been drooling over this.

I have the demo but probably won't buy the full game from lack of funds. Freaking awesome though. There is nothing more beautiful then seeing countless nukes gracefully arch over the world before vanishing into a white bloom.

But at the same time, if I push away those that will are truly helping me, am I somehow defying my purpose or just leading to it? Is life a series of choices or guided events? I've been playing the demo and I have to agree with Brians post on the main page a while back...The computers have an Ungodly ability to defend against anything I throw at them while I get the crap blown out of me.

I found that my key to success in Defcon is in letting the Computer Players attack first. They will usually start with fighters, bombers, and submarines, which your own fighters and missile defences should be able to handle. They will then start shooting their nukes, which is when you send in your bombers to blow up their silos, with fighters to provide air support against defending fighters. Once that's all done you can basically attack with impunity with your own nuklear arsenal from your silos, bombers, and submarines - not bothering to attack anything other than their cities.
