What does fighter say? My mind has officially been blown! Okay, to be fair, it does say that it's not specific as to what they play. But the relevent issue here is that there's a good chance that Night Elf you're cybering with actually is a woman!

I imagine the study interpreted the results wrong and in fact, when people are cybering with Night Elves, they are in fact cybering with greased up, 300-lb ghost-white 30+ year old males. Said males are probably wearing wife beaters.
Either way, it's funnier my way. |

Here's a question: if they lie about their gender in-game, what makes you think they wouldn't do it for a survey?

What a load of crap! I'm sorry but I just can't believe the number is that high. It is a known fact that far more males play games then females. How often do you here girls talking about games in schools/work/anywhere? Not half as much as men, that's for sure. I'm not denying that they do play games, but there is no way that they outnumber guys by that much. I can't even really recall any girls I've ever known to have had even the slightest interest in games what so ever, except for my sister and my Aunt, and even then only slightly, but practically every guy I know or ever have known (or at the very least about 90% of them) plays or has played games at least for some small amount of time (I.E, they have at some point owned a console of some sort at one time or another).
People lie about their sex online. I have no fucking clue as to why, but they do. So there is no reason for them to be any more or less truthful on a survey. Hell people even lie on national census', by saying their religion is "Jedi"! (25% in case you're wondering)

Actually, chances are good you'd be cybering a guy anyway, because lots of women make male characters in order to avoid the whole creepy stalker internet guy thing that a lot of virgin nerds whip out, or they feel dirty accepting all that free stuff.

So I guess we were, what, both crossdressing or something? Ironically after we both established our real OOC genders, I wasn't so afraid to act as a couple-of-sorts within the context of the game itself. It was amusing, and we cracked jokes by roleplaying our characters within the confines of our young, stereotypical perceptions of the opposite gender. Anyway, I'm glad I got through my MMORPG phase quite some time ago; it was fun in 9th grade, though, when it damn near devoured my life. If any of you knew a "Kiron", a "Sarabu" or an "Arianna" way back in the day, though, you may have been playing an MMORPG with yours truly.

You're telling me 6.4 out of 10 online gamers, as in, majority rule, of all people who play video games on the internet are female? What universe did 1up.com get that stat from, 'cause I'd like to visit that place!
Okay, on a different note, I did know two girls in high school who were Everquest junkies. One of them was my drama teacher. And once, I heard a girl talk about how cute she thought Cloud and Aeris were together, but other than that, I've never heard a female talk about games ever. Hell, if you ask most women if they play games, they'll usually say, "No, videogames are for boys." "That's a boy's thing." That's stereotyping, I know, but in its own way, it's true. I don't know any women in person who are hardcore for games like me. I know several guys, but not a single girl who enjoys games. This place, as well as the other forum I frequent, is the only place where I've met women who are hardcore gamers like me. The only place. Amazing, is it not? Anyways, I think this is just a desperate attempt to make it seem as though there is gender equality in the gaming world. Maybe there will be, twenty five years from now, but at present, this article is bogus.

You guys need to study other sources...
Online games could be games from MSN like Bejeweled. Most women that I know play games to just pass the time. When you get into MMOGs there's more guys. I believe the article was backed up by Wired. Personally, I saw some female drummers playing Drummania. And they were younger and a lot better than me... I cried that day. |

Totally not true there is no way in hell 64 percent of online gamers are women.
No. No. By the way my friend showed me the joys of being a night elf and getting hit on. It is a very good way to make money for a poor alt.
