I just have to know that there're more people out there who've played this classic. It's like Chrono Trigger and the old Romancing Saga games rolled into one delicious package. Every character's quest is like a whole different game. Even the playstyle and tone change. It goes from martial arts epic, to sci fi survival horror, to fighting game, and so on.

All these old games that never got released here are coming over on portable systems now, yet some of the coolest remain untouched. Why do you hate us so much, Nintendo?

So yeah, has anyone around here ever played it? Did you enjoy it as much as me? Any other foreign games you'd really like to see ported?

Awesome art be here.

I have played it, but I never even made it to the end of the caveman chapter, and yes, it still haunts me to this very day.

Yeah, same for me, if I patch the ROM the game glithes up.

Essentially, you choose between seven characters from different periods of time and different setting. For example, you've got a caveman, a kung fu master, a ninja or a robot on a spaceship. Everyone has their own story, and you'll play through each one. The different stories play slightly differently, too. The ninja, for example, has to infiltrate a house, and you can choose whether to be sneaky or to murder everyone inside. Another character has the goal of becoming the world's best fighter, and his story is set up like a fighting game.

The stories do tie together in the end, but more on that would contain more spoilers than I'm prepared to give.

I actually found myself enjoying the simpler plots of the individual stories more. I think my favourites were the Shinsanken and space chapters. The space one I liked just because it was played so differently from any other. That, and it gave me goose-bumps when I played at night.

As for the Shinsanken chapter... well, I love martial arts drama, and getting to take on the role of the great old master, rather than the students was cool. That, and Lei was hot.
