More RP Ideas
Okay, I felt a little bitter before considering my last idea showed no promise. Though I can swear this might actually work. I have another I've been tossing around.
The Drakken Chronicles: What if interdimensional travel was possible? What would happen and where would you come out? The answer lies in the Bridge Realm, the gate from one dimension to the other. When you step through one portal, you end up here until you can find the Drakken Gates to move on to the next. However, the Bridge Realm does not see any visitors, especially from our dimension, as no one has quite mastered interdimensional travel quite yet, but it is possible to end up here by mistake and never find a way to get back home. Once you land here, you'll find something invasive peering at you, at your very core. This is the Mist, a semi-sentient mist that covers the realm and even if it looks clear, the Mist is everywhere. Not only does it allow the use of magic, but also gives other races their longevity. Humans found this place long ago and so far, have found themselves forsaken by it, living their short human lives under the rule of the longer lived races and forced into servitude. Magic is comprised of 5 different categories. As the Mist is incredibly malleable, a lot of things are possible: Sorcery(Manipulating the Mist to cast spells). Magery(The Words of Power to command the Mist to do something). Alchemy(The use of Symbols or Natural Ingredients mixed with sorcery to get the effect you need). Blade Singing(A mix of sorcery and swordplay, but different enough to warrant its own category). Bow Singing(A mix of magery and archery, same as Blade Singing). Including the Humans, there are other distinctly different races: Elves: The most numerous of the races in the Bridge Realm. The Mist increases their longevity to around 10,000 years at the max age. Gnomes: One of the friendlier races of the Bridge Realm and standard fantasy fare, great with building next and exciting things. They do however, seem to naturally excel at Aeromancy and Teleportation magics, categories of Sorcery. Dragonborn: This race is a result of the Dragon Wars 100,000 years ago as a peace treaty between the elves and the dragons. They resemble their elven cousins, but tower them by height and even the frailest looking dragonborn would pose a serious threat by sheer might. They're distinguished by hair color, eye color and the scales on their wings and tail, each one differing by their season of birth which determines which element they are best at using in any of the magical schools. Vorun: A tall humanoid wolf, at least 7ft tall, bearing the same limb structure as a normal wolf. Strong and vicious, they make the best up close warriors, capable of wearing specially made armor and wielding large weapons. Those that live within cities of towns tend to walk on their hind legs, much like the other races. Vorun are also prone to their fur being black, to shades of gray and even white depending on their environment and heritage. Tigrun: A tall humanoid tiger, a little taller then the Vorun, but not by much. Like the Vorun, their limb structure is similar to that of the animal they represent. They take to magic a little easier, some tribes consisting of wise ones(sorcerer) or medicine women(alchemists). Their fur varies from Bengal colors to Siberian tiger colors. They also have the option of two legs or all four and are the ones most likely seen to be on 2. Dwarf: The medium, stocky and most durably built race in the Bridge Realm. While not always seen outside of their homeland, they know the secrets to mining the strongest metal, Dragon Steel. Not only is it the highest value coin in the realm, but the strongest and most magical weapons are built with it. They are more like to learn the magical art of Geomancy, another form of Sorcery. The easiest way to tell how old a dwarf is is by the length of their beard for males and how many children she has reared for females. Dragons: The oldest, wisest, strongest and most dependent on the Mist, race in the Bridge Realm. Typical fare for dragons, capable of disguising themselves as elves or dragonborn. They are also subject to coloration and magical proficiency by the season in which they were conceived. However, their magic is far stronger then what the other races can use, but they are the only race which can 'burn up Mist', as in use it up. While the Mist regenerates in time, too much use can put whole towns and cities in danger. Humans: The newest, weakest and shortest lived of the races, not even recognized by the Mist. Most live as servants to wealthy elves and dragonborn, while others try their hand at magery or alchemy. Your standard human is incapable of performing sorcery as the Mist doesn't allow them access to touch it. As soldiers, they serve little more then cannon fodder in the vanguard while Bow Singers prepare cantrips and Sword Singers prepare their charge from the middle and rearguard respectively. Halves: The taboo race of the Bridge Realm. A mix of one of the longer lived races with humans. Considered immoral, but not criminal. It is thought to be torturing new life by introducing a shorter lifespan. Their appearance varies in strength, to hardly noticeable and easier to pass until their age starts to show early or to obvious, where the child is considered an outcast but not an abomination by the friendlier minded. Full blooded of their kind hesitate to teach them anything or apprentice them. Only half recognized by the Mist, they are only capable of living a quarter of their longer lived parent's lifespan. So, that's about it. What does anyone think? I have a plot made up, but I thought I'd ask about this concept. |
