Explanation of Sword Chucks
Many people assume using sword chucks would be hacking ones own limbs, but with creativity it would be rather easy, so easy in fact no wonder Fighter made them once (if you remember, he even had design after his memory was wiped but Black Mage destroyed)
First off, you would need a solid, heavy chain. If it were not heavy the blades would bend the chain back and THEN there would be some limb removal on the wrong end. In the EXACT centre of this chain you would put the handle, big enough to hold with both hands and have some sliding room, a good distance would be shoulder-to-shoulder length. Then, at the end of each chain you would have two IDENTICLE blades, with the exact same weight and properties. This creates balance between them. Then weilding this weapon it would be usable in one MAIN way, and that would be acrobatically. You could spin in a circle and therefore annihilate a 360 degree radius surrounding you. While not the most graceful way to fight, it is magical in the fact that you would be pretty deadly to foe.. AND friend. Still, that would be the most, sane way to do it, to keep your own bodily harm to a minimum.

I always considered swordchucks highly plausable and useable. My thoughts on how it would work stem directly from the comic: two identicle swords attached to chain, no extra handle(that would make it into some sort of bizzare 3-section staff of death).
Usage of the weapon would concentrate highly on wrist strength, especially if useing two at once. You would give a very hard and quick snap of the wrist, pulling the chained sword in the desired direction. When the chain begins to slack as the back blade advances, you can then thrust with the sword in hand. This would allow you to thrust with 4 blades at once. The trickiest part of this is determining the correct length of chain. Too long a chain would make the wrist movements pointless, too short and there will be no slack to allow double attacks. I think normal nunchuck length would be appropriate. |

I agree normal nunchuck length, but I'd hold them with the flat of the 1 blade against the arm using that blade for if someone comes up behind you, wrists would be important, but not the only thing. Using 2 at once would not be hard at all when u think about it.. you would only need to worry about 2 things...
the blade on the end of the chain hitting u in whiplash, and the blades on ur arms stabbing ur back.. I'd say shorten the blades on ur wrists an inch or 2.. I might make a flash movie on this...

I always figured them to be just like those ninja sword you always see where a talisman or something is hanging from the handle. Except obviously switch the talisman/tassle with another sword, and make the chain longer so they aren't handle to handle.
<==|=*~~~~*=|==> God, does that look ANYTHING like sword-chucks? lol Hold onto one handle, swing them so that one blade spins in a nice circle around the other(parallel to each other) and attack like you normally woudl with the main sword, making sure that the swing back won't hit you of course, and htere ya go... or atleast thats how I think they'd work... *tried to make one look like it spinning, but every time i tried the spacing went all weird and I could never get the cursor udner the right spot.... so yea

I'm wondering: why hasn't anyone actually made a pair of swordchucks yet? 8BT is quite popular and I think someone would have access to the tools to make a pair or two.
Well, I'll eventually make them. Too bad weaponsmithing isn't a high school elective. |

Gorefiend I believe in my first post I already discussed the longer chain when pointing out how they would be made.
Sword chucks are an acrobatic weapon, you would use your entire body to use them and therefore you would have the momentum of your body weight forcing these blades to move (you could NOT swing a sword as powerful as this) aswell as an obvious natural shield (who is going to walk into a tornado of blades?)

If anyone plays Soul Calibur 2, they would know about one of Maxi's weapons called "Falcon". All it is/they are/whatever are nunchucks with a small blade about an inch and a half long at the end of each chuck. Perhaps if you lengthened the blades to maybe a foot and a half, while making them very thin (almost rapier thin), you could make swordchucks that could function properly. Just maybe......

The blades hitting your back are a concern, as normal chucks always hit your back or something.
