Christmas illness
It's a festive pointless question time!
I'm led to believe that every year, in every family, there is one that comes down ill at christmas. Usually it's my mum, but it has, on occasion, been me, my brother, my dad (when I'm over his for christmas, which is not often nowadays) and so on. So, NPF, who in your respective families has the dreaded christmas sniffles this year, and how has it ruined your christmases in the past?

Christmas was pretty harmonic the last few years.
Before that it was my Granddad and my Father getting in some heated arguments over probably football or some shit. He's American, and my grandfather is pretty biased towards Americans. There's american football and there's rest-of-the-world football (sometimes called soccer). Sometimes they were both drunk. Hilarity ensues. Some years ago my dad got into some beef with my grandmother and hasn't been invited to christmas parties since then. It has cooled down, but he still isn't invited. But he's cool with that because he gets to eat lobster while the rest of us is gone eating Bratwurst. EDIT: I think I may have slightly misinterpreted this topic. I shouldn't post just after I woke up, probably.

About a few weeks ago, I ended up catching a combo cold/stomach virus. The stomach virus left, but I still wake up sniffly and coughing to this day. Also, I believe my mom once mentioned that when I was little I had a REALLY bad fever one Christmas and had to go to the pediatrician.

Christmas has always been a bit of a gongshow for me. My last year of high school my mom had to go to the hospital to have her appendix removed. Two years ago, one of my best fiends from high school checked in rehab for alcoholism. Last year, on the day I got back from school, my dad had a heart attack and was hospitalized until the 27th. About Same day, my grandpa went in for surgery back in Saskatoon, due to problems in his carotid artery.
So far though, this year is looking clear. I am very excited about the possibility of nothing going terribly wrong.

For my family, it's Thanksgiving that generally has been getting messed up for the past couple years. This last one was normal, though, thankfully.
