My family is very musically inclined, and though my dad and I have never been on the same wave length socially speaking, we share a lot in musical tastes. These two guys were the first two musicians that my dad introduced me to, and they've got a lot of sentimentality for that fact, bringing me closer to my dad.

There's a few ingredients that make a song fantastic - the lyrics, the music, how and where it's presented; I've always loved how Bruce Springsteen can paint a picture with his words. It's what your english teacher has always told you - use descriptive language. Well, you could say "A girl on a truck drinking beer." Bruce chose to say "Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge, drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain."

I like Leonard for the opposite - he does have beautiful, artistic songs - he has a few pieces of poetry published, so his work is wonderful - but i like his voice. He has this deep, gravelly voice that just settles around the room - it's wonderful.

Heh, was planning on starting a thread like this but you beat me to the punch.

Well, music is very important to me. It influences me in a lot of ways, depending on the lyrics, the rhythm, the beat of the song, the general feeling that the song is trying to convey to the listener. And when I'm doing things that match with the song, it gets even better. (Yes, that means that usually for everything I do, I try to find a soundtrack xp)

For instance, I've been listening lately to some j-rock, namely Sambomaster - Sekai wa Sore wo Ai to Yobundaze and Orange Range - Asterisk (Bleach OST); those 2 songs fill me with this warm fuzzy feel-good vibe every time I listen to them. And when I play them on my electric guitar, it gets even better. Or another example that I can think of: when I play Warhammer 40000: Dark Crusade, I play some Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory while playing with the Imperial Guard; I love the epic struggle / war vibe that gets goin' on.

I know, I'm weird. But then again, who isn't?

P.S. Oh yeah. And I've been listening to No More Kings; they make me want to learn to drive, buy a car & drive off performing random acts of kindness for the public.

I like a lot of bands and artists. And most of them for different reasons.

Music has an enormous impact on my mood and how I feel. For both better or worse.

To name a few bands I like and listen to a lot; Bowling For Soup, Reel Big Fish, Death Cab for Cutie, Kings of Convenience, Slayer just to name a few. And I mean a few. On top of those there's a whole bunch of commonly popular and known and less popular or less known foreign and finnish bands and artists.

But to name one (or two) that have somehow been sort of a... starting point, if you will. The Clash and Joe Strummer. Just something about that group and that artist. A lot of it has to do with the diversity of their music I would assume.
