I think it has something to do with boredom and what I call the "Hollywood Effect". The "Hollywood Effect" is where there is one semi-original idea, its shows moderate success, and then everyone tries to cash in on it. That of course kills it for everyone, forever, and enforces poor movie making as a form of profit garnering. What is your opinion on my "Hollywood Effect", LoJ?
