I don't know whether or not this has been mentioned--and judging by the most infinitesmal faction of intelligence that is likely to be embedded in any random person, sided with the compilation of idea exchanging over a vast period of time from when he died in the volcano place, it probably has--but petrification is curable by a soft. Ergo, the Black Belt that has been turned into stone at the Temple of Fiends, and thrown in the big garbage waste by Black Mage, is a potential ally, seeing as how it's possible to visit him and cast a soft spell on him.

Probably, but none of the Light Warriors wants him around enough to do that.

It's been mentioned numerous times, you're right about that. The outcome of the discussions, however, way always the same - someone came in and said something akin to this.
