Default Episode 175: So, aren't they still poisoned?

This has been bothering me(slightly) for a while, and even though it could be a future plot device... Or did I miss something, and they found a cure? I'm sure the answer is out there. Thanks, Adam

I did some research and as far as I can tell it doesn't directly say that they got their nightmare disease (poison) cured. However, episode 311 does say they completed their quest and they get the gold for it. I would naturally assume that the poison was cured during that time.

hmm, yeah it does look implied that they were healed. Thanks for the help on that, my dialup really isn't up to the task of going through all the episodes. I think thats too bad, that would've been an interesting plot loop hole to exploit later on.

Okay, in this comic, Matoya asks if they brought her, the crystal she wanted. As you recall from this comic, Matoya stated that not only would she give them the antidote to the poison, but 200 Gil each.

Then later on in this comic we see the Light Warriors woo-hooing about the money they just got.

But we do *NOT* see the transaction of the money. Neither do we see our heros complain about having any more nightmares.

So, the logical assumtion is that between 308 & 311, while we're having an interlude with the Dark Warriors, Matoya might just have given the Light Warriors the antidote to the poison.

Sometimes we need to make assumptions. I personally assume that the blaze in Corneria has run its course, and the city has been re-built. I can't know that for certain, but without endless fuel, the flame can't can continued indefinitely, and there has to be at least a few survivors, or King Steve wouldn't have anyone to be King over.

Didn't Matoya say that the cookies diluted most of the poison in the first place? So when they digested the cookies, wouldn't the poison have no effect? I don't know if that answers your question, but maybe it helps.

No, she didn't. The closest thing she said was, due to her blindness, that she didn't know which poison she gave the Light Warriors. All she knew was it was non-lethal, and wouldn't be cured until she dealt with it.

Admittedly, Brian did show us less in the way of Nightmares as the story progressed, but that can be written off as a part of storytelling, as Brian didn't think we needed to be constantly reminded of the problems associated with the poison.

Then again, we haven't seen a night scene since they left her cave, so they could still be poisoned, but they just gotten used to it by now. So unless we see a scene involving Matoya, or we get one at night, it's all conjecture.

And "Pie Warrior Bib?"

Default He's either incredibly skilled, or incredibly lucky.

Ah, the mark of a good comic.

Always able to gloss over a detail or a loose-end that we can ignore, and then come back to it with a slew of new arcs incase our interest needs to be re-hooked.

No, (one of) the mark of a good comic is knowing that you don't have to show every single little event :P

It is heavily implied that the antidote was given during the interlude. The Light Warriors showed evidence of suffering from the poison; they were in a situation where the antidote was about to be given to them; time passed during a scene that took place elsewhere; when next we see the Light Warriors there is no evidence of the poison holding any sway over them. It does not take an incredible leap of logic to assume that the antidote was delivered in the meantime.

So there!
