Cyber Wars Discussion: Where the hell did it go anyway?
I was going to ask a question, but apparently the higher-ups did a little cleaning of the fourms, and our dicussion thread got swept up. Either that... or I'm blind.
What are M4 and crew doing? Are we still trying to talk with Jade, or did we finish our mission and are back home, which I doubt, but I thought I would double check.

Too much awesome for such a small space. Oh well. You can still punch your mother...if you want... I think we just found a new way to torture Jax if he ever does something wrong. :p

Just FYI, Jax wouldn't hide what he's going. He's a soldier, who has established the Kaitlin is a threat, and that if circumstances dictate that she should die, Wolf won't make the call.

I'm sorry, I think I have to stick my neck out here and back SS up. While yes I admit that standing up to your supior officer is not something one should do, you have to understand that he was a cop first where going against the chief wasn't a crime against humanity, to put it strongly.
Maybe he DID over react a little bit, but that's something that a concerned person would do. He knows that there is a personal connection between his commanding officer, and therefore the decision maker of the situation, and the target. Maybe going behind his back wasn't the best idea, but would you bring up these issues if you knew your CO might have impared judgement? Granted, yes, he shouldn't have the power to unplug the situation, but at the same time... I don't know, I can see where he's coming from.

I was never intending for Jax to unplug Kaitlin. I was working on the assumption that the grand arc of the RP shall deal with that problem. It just struck me as something to put in to give Jax a little bit more "mmph" as a character. I also never said that Jax did it under-handedly, or behind Wolf's back. You all just assumed he did it like that. Jax wouldn't hide it. He would trust that Wolf would say "Hey, I'm biased, I should pass the command off to someone else and recuse myself from this." In the real world, that wouldn't even be an option. You would be forced to do that, regardless of rank. And yes, I put too much in Angel. There's too much there, hence why I tossed him. I basically took a restock of all the crap he's been through and decided that there's nothing left there. He's boring. So, he's done. Jax was an army sniper, then joined the RCMP. From there, he was put in the Emergency Response Team. The RCMP is part of Interpol, which is really just an agreement between a hundred individual federal law enforcement groups. The ERT is kept in the loop specifically, because it's the ERT that is called on the apprehend terrorists and international fugitives. About a month ago in Toronto, when all those suspected terrorists were arrested, it was the ERT and Toronto's ETF that did that. Those aren't secret connections. They would be very open and blatent ones, and given his RCMP background, it would be expected since he was now in an international unit. So would the phone-call to the DnD. When I first put Jax in there, Jax said that the DnD put him there to ensure that Canada's interests were being protected. Hence why he would phone the DnD. Once again, none of this stuff is "shady past" stuff, it's just saying "Hey, he was a cop in the RCMP. So, he'd have access to this." Once again, Jax wouldn't be hiding this shit. In any military unit, that would just be the responsible thing to do. Make sure that the job can be done, regardless of personal feelings. In special forces units, like the Green Berets or French GIGN, talking to your commanding officer is encouraged. If they didn't tell their commanding officer he was being stupid, people could die. That is how Jax is perceiving this. In his mind, it's "If Wolf doesn't wake up to reality, he won't pull the plug. People could die. I need to get him willing to make the call, or be able to pull it himself." The whole comment on Wolf's marriage and stuff was stuff I was going to stick in the last RP that I just felt was appropriate in here. It was based off of how a lot of the first RP, and now this one, was written. Because, especially when presented to the other characters and what they have access too, a lot of relationships in the RP seem to boil down to "I love you honey, but that is either going to have no influence, OR we'll always be together watching each other's backs." As for the Neil/Angel/Aegis/Azrael/whatever'A'nameIfind comment...of course Jax will act like him! You remember large figures in your life, and you emulate them. So far at least, Jax has said one thing concerning his past: He shot someone and he feels bad about it. A lot of law enforcement snipers do. Read about Lon Horiuchi. He wrote an entire book about how he made a shot, and it was a bad shot, and he feels guilty. Chris Whitcomb wrote a book on how he didn't take a shot he should've taken. So far, Jax is judging people based on what Angel told him. He's been there for about a day. Those preconceptions are all that he has. Still though, he's not the same as Angel. I could expound, but I (ironically) have to study for my English diploma. But I digress. I'll take my licks and keep going. It's your call as GM BG.

I was going to go into a massive angry rant over you attacking my writing abilites again (it's not like i'm not aware i'm not too great it it), but you have made a good point aobut the whole chain of commmand
Then again when has this RP ever followed the real world. Like it or not, this is not the real world and there is no way Jason would (legally or otherwise) rely on someone else to make sure his wife survives this...thing. I apologize for getting extraordinarily po'ed and i do realize you have a point...but i'm saying it was not handled in the best way.

Well, I'm not one to always think that I'm right 100% of the time, so I read through your comments thoroughly SS. Here's ther deal: The reason I thought that the connections were secret was because you made it seem that way with the sneaking around and stuff. I know little to nothing about military branches, so if you would have mentioned all of this to me before, I would have been fine with it. I really just had no idea.
As per the relationship thing. This rp was never intended to be a romance, but as we know rps change about as quickly as a germophobe changes his underwear, so naturally things happened and relationships formed. So far I haven't seen any problems with them, they actually add an interesting twist to the story (the whole deal with Jade's trial wouldn't have happened if not for Kaitlin). I may have been a bit hasty in calling you on the stuff you wrote, and I apologize. It just seemed a bit...forward and not very decent of Jax to say those things in the heat of the situation. But again, who am I to judge? So yea, go ahead and play in the arc, just maybe tone it down a smidge? |

I'll tone it down, and I'll accept fault for making it seem like it was secretive. That was my mistake.
I'm also going to extend my thanks to both BG and Wolf, and I'm putting out that I'm incredibly grateful we resolved this maturely, and without excessive flaming.
