This is the goddamn second time that an independent mod team works on a project for a long time, and then the company steps down from the high-horse long enough to squish them and return to king-of-the-hill status.

I was looking forward to Halogen, too.

The 1up article is an interesting read reguardless. Halo RTS? As it was supposed to be?

Its things like these that make me hope that the Starcraft 3d mod does not get shut down. What really ticks me off is that M$ let that side scrolling Halo game get released and yet we cant get our Halo RTS goodness!!!:stressed:

According to this, it is because Bungie seems to want to make a RTS game (maybe a Halo-fied RTS?)

Halo was originally going to be an RTS. It became a FPS early in development.

Why can't mod teams do something original? They have the freedom to do whatever they want as they aren't aiming to get a publisher to distribute them, but yet they still want to make Doom: Source or, in this case, a Halo RTS. Invent your own IP and give us something new to play, instead of a cut down version of something else.

I dont think it's a matter of originalty, I think it is much more simple to just take some game character models and part of a story and build on that, rather than to just make a game from scratch.

It't not that there not original, it's more of a lazy thing going on.

Worked for Unreal and Doom modders. Plus HL modders.
