An Animal I Have Become
|
You know its time to move out when...
So I'm a 22 year old who still lives with my parents. Its actually sadder that it sounds because I did move out at 16 for university, but they moved to where I moved so I moved back in to save some money. I'm planning on going to med school as soon as I get my ph.d, so hopefully I can avoid situations like this:
I get home and decide to phone my girlfriend of 3 years to say goodnight, as I do every night. My parents aren't home so I call her. About six minutes after I get on the phone, my mother gets home and beelines for the phone and picks it up. "Hello?" "Mom... I'm on the phone." "Can you hang up? I want to check the voicemail." "Mom... I'm on the phone. I won't be very long." "But I want to check the voicemail." "I won't be long! Could you just get off the phone?" So in total: Time spent on the phone before this: Six minutes Time spent on the phone after this: Four minutes Time spent arguing afterwards whether or not I have the right to 'deny my mother access to the phone': Twenty-three minutes... Yeah... electricity bills are starting to look REAL good right about now. Anybody else had or having similar experiences?

I can beat ya. I will be walking out of the bathroom in boxers and nothing else, my sister will walk by with her kid wearing only her bathrobe and slippers, and neither of us will be phased by this interaction.
I have been here too fucking long not to be creeped out by that anymore |

Right after highschool when I was living in my parents basement I had my own phone line. Makes things simple. Also made it easy for my Mother to call and wake me up in the mornings for breakfast |

I moved out when I was 21. My parents are in Texas and Georgia and I'm in Vegas. Thank goodness for little miracles. |

Living in my own place, in my own house. I have no job that provides real money, and I survive via renters paying for everything and not knowing they feed and clothe me.
I love my life. <3 I moved out to go to college and I am still in school. ^^ |

I'm in my parent's house because I still haven't finished even my first year of college. However, come my third year I will be moving to the dorms of NC State.
And then I will be coming back. I'm too crazy to be in the outside world yet. A few weeks away from home, a few corpses piling up, and then an apartment goes up in flames! I mean, I don't wanna just be some loafer who stays with his parents all his life, but a whole lot of what's required for a responsible adult goes way over my head. So I figure once that's settled, I'll move into a small house in the boondocks somewhere, where I have cable, internet, and telephone, and I'll be happy.

Neither of my parents can afford to live on their own, and neither of them can stand to live on the same side of the continent as the other, so I seem to be cycling back and forth from one end of the country to the other when one or the other has a new financial crisis of impending doom.
At least I'm useful.
