Awesome Jobs you wouldn't mind having
This is a thread for careers/jobs that might qualify as "dream jobs" but not necessarily jobs that you're aiming for/have. (like for me, I wouldn't write anything art-related as that is pretty much what I'm shooting for/my actual dream job) If that makes any sense at all.
Anyway, if doing art wasn't possible, I would love to be a professional musician. Not necessarily a rock star or anything, but professionally playing in an orchestra would be amazing. One of the biggest things I miss about high school is being able to play my instrument in the band. Playing on your own is all well and good, but it's only when you have all of the parts of a song does it start to really feel like a song. I also think being an actress would be fun, whether a voice actress or live actress. I always liked to try out for plays and such in school, even though I never got any big roles, I think it would be something enjoyable. So how about you guys?

Wound T-Rex's and Stegosaurs be the monster trucks of this world? 'Cause I'd be all over that.

I'd love to be a voice actor, but I'm pretty sure that would be impossible, since my vocal range is pretty slim and I don't really have a voice that would rock the world. I mean, I could do a villain really well, but I'm not kidding myself in any way that I could break into the industry with absolutely no formal education in drama.
Short of that, I do have some games I'd like to maybe see made one day, which is more plausible, but in all likelihood, I'm not going to become a lead programmer anytime soon, either. Especially because parts of my ideas have been done before and I doubt my stories are going to win any prizes. What I really have to offer are ideas for game mechanics. Some of them actually stem FROM the stories, but there are likely just more solid proposals out there. Barring even that, I do have some old stories that used to be super important to me. My priorities have recently shifted away from working on them, but to be able to finish one and have it not be crap would be great, and to publish it would be even better.

Rub it in, jerk.
I would like to be paid for existing, but I think we're all in line for a job like that. There was this old career aptitude test that asked what you would do if you had a million dollars. My answer was always to write, paint, read, listen to music, play on the internet, garden, act, sing, and raise children. I can now add "baking" to that list. Unfortunately, none of those answers adds up to a solid career, other than perhaps being an archive librarian who has kids, brings in baked goods every now and then, sings in church, acts in community theater, has an awesome garden, and creates some nice watercolors. |

I wouldn't mind being a voice actor, either. Apparently I have a voice for radio, providing a voice for some dude on tv can't be that much of a stretch. I am a bit of a monotone though, so who knows!
The only other thing I can really think of is a cop. It's actually kind of my backup plan in case teaching doesn't pan out, so we'll see how that goes. I'm not sure why, I've never been very aggressive or outgoing. But people change, I suppose.

I'm going to add to the voice actor pile, with the extra info that it was my dream since before I was in school and learned the name Billy West from Ren and Stimpy. That cartoon made me want to work in cartoons, and voice acting, at the time, seemed like the thing I could have the most fun with. I dropped my dream when I learned in, like, middle school that there's almost no steady work for a VA. That was a really stupid thing to do, looking back. I almost have a useless degree that will cement my joblessness anyway; I may as well have gotten a similar degree while chasing a dream.
So, voice acting, specifically for cartoons. Or be born into more money than god; that's a good one for an aimless alcoholic.

At the moment I'd really like to be able to make pinatas professionally, but that might be more because of my recent activities and enjoyment of working with my hands than any real motivation for making pinatas. I'm fairly certain I'll end up behind a desk somewhere, so my dream job would have to be something where I'm decidedly not behind a desk. I like working with animals. With these thoughts in mind I'd have to say:
Veterinarian or Old fashioned blacksmith. Not the violent kind, the guy who made farm implements and shod horses back in the day. Maybe a farrier?
