Updated internet issues!

So: from the situation in the last thread I made not so long ago I've discovered that: my internet doesn't fail when my browsers do: in fact, I was playing CS all afternoon, but was unable to check my email. Also, Google Chrome seems to work fine for a brief period of time when Firefox fails, then also breaks down. And, last but not least, I can't update Java. The update manager fails to create the files at the destinations. Also, things that I think use Java (like the Vista card games) slow up any audio playing as they close/take longer to close

I have some hijackthis! scans from when the browsers were out, attached. Once over running as a normal user, and again as an admin. Any help?

Speaking of this problem... I actually just might of solved a way for you to fix this. I just fixed up a computer that acts exactly the same way you say. I've got a few questions to ask first:

> What Anti-virus do you have? Does it even run?
> What can you do exactly? Games work all right, but anything dealing with the actual internet and not your connection do not?
> How often does it freeze?
> Have you gotten the Blue Screen yet?

If you have all, or maybe even a few these problems, you most likely have several corrupted .dll files ( Very BAD! ) in your windows 32 folder, which I assume is from a nasty virus. It may be something else though.

I have two more questions then:

> Do you have a partition that is a recovery? A backup CD perhaps?
> Also what is your computer/laptop, specs, 64/32-bit, brand?

If you do have a form of "out-of-the-box" recovery, which is basically when you first booted up your computer/laptop, I have a few steps that will fix this, guaranteed. You will lose all your data, because of recovering it back to factory settings.

The steps as listed:

1) Copy all your data you need (Or want) to a jumpdive or portable hard drive, or even another computer. This is so you don't lose your data. If your computer is giving you fuss about even that, boot up in safe mode. To get to safe mode, press and hold F8 on the boot screen (Where your computer's brand is shown right when you boot up.). This will give you the option to boot in safe mode.

2) Load up the recovery partition or CD. If you have a hard drive, your computer should come with something to load it, unless you removed it. If is is a CD just pop it in and either let it run a program, or boot from it from your bios.

3) Choose the right settings, etc. etc. like you were booting your computer up for the first time.

4) Viola! You should have your interwebs back. If you don't, explain what's going on, with maybe post screenies if you can. I will see what to do from there.

Warning:This is only a last resort preferably. It should work, but only use this if you must.

-Avast, and it works fine. Before that, for the longest time the free Norton trial one that I had, which also worked fine.

-I can actually do anything on the internet except browse on a browser. The pages won't download. Counter-Strike worked fine all of yesterday, as did MSN and AIM and Google Talk and my weather globe thingy on the sidebar (which is google's, btw)... The only internet failure is the browsers, which all fail individually (I've resorted to using Google Chrome, which also fails.) And everything else works, but, as stated previously, the little Vista card games take a little longer to close and will cause my audio to skip while they do.

Oh! I just remembered; uTorrent also fails.

-I'm not sure what to tell you as far as how often if freezes: it just inevitably does, and a restart will unfreeze it. Bear in mind, only the browsers freeze; everything else works fine.

-I used to get a lot of bluescreens because Empire Total War's dev team are idiots who can't get their game to work with NVidia's latest drivers. I reverted to an older version, and things have been fine since. This problem I'm pretty sure was already going on. I could be wrong; maybe it started soon after, but I doubt it.

-I have a 1TB extenal hard drive, and I believe I have a CD to re-install Windows and all, but I also should be able to get Asus' service. Still, basic idea is, if I have to reformat, I can.

-Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit, I'm pretty sure. Sold by Asus, one of their N50V series.

P.S. Java couldn't download the offline installer, but the online one seemed to go through fine; I updated with that. The offline one, however, wouldn't download more than maybe 500Kb before breaking connection with Java's servers. Weird...

P.P.S. Another important thing is that, after things fail, the processes freeze and become unclosable, even on the Task Manager.
