New Year's Resolutions

...which no one ever actually does, but whatever.

1) Write my fucking book.

2) Get my fucking radio show.

3) Take over the worldfucking world. This may or may not be extended into 2011.

I don't do resolutions.

Instead, I'm going to try and do what I did last (this) year. Be myself. See what happens.

Studies show new year's resolutions cause more psychological harm than anything else, because we're only human and eventually break them and then crucify ourselves when we do. I don't make resolutions anymore and I really am happier about it.

That said, I'm hoping to get a real job soon and definitely am going to try to finish up my B.S. in Computer Science. So I'm going to try to do well in any and all things I end up doing (although if I only get one, I hope it's the school, as I have unfinished business here at home and any job I get will require me to relocate).

Legend has it that if you Kill Fifthfiend, Hexafiend will rise... and nobody wants that.

Over here we call them new year's promises. What happens when your resolution breaks? Big deal. But you don't want to break a promise, do ya?

I promise to spend more time with my friends, write more and draw more. More creative and more social. How is that going to work? By playing less videogames I guess.

I heard something about they've found autism related disorders messes with the motivator unit in your brain. It's hard to make decisions and motivate yourself into doing anything - pity we don't just get commanded by the voices of the gods like in the old days huh - and it's easy to waste whole days doing nothing important. Well, I say fuck wasting time, yo, and fuck taking it easy.

That said, depending on the job, it may not even really be necsesary, depending on how bad off you are.

To get back into college.

...Probably by putting this on the back burner. I hate to say it, but setting deadlines for yourself on non-essential things really can cause problems. I know this from experience. If it's reasonably possible to do it given what's filling up the rest of your time, by all means, go for it, but if things go into a crunch, this is the one thing that you answer to no one but yourself for and can pick up and resume later.
